Hi master,
I have a PIR sensor at car porch area, I want to active it after 5 minutes of door exit.
Reason: When I Away arm the system, right after I exit the main door. The system is in Away mode, then I will trigger the alarm when I walk through the car porch area / move my car out.
Please help me on this.
Thank you!
Regards,
Evard

Hi Evard
The PIR sensor like what you say will cause lots of false alarms
Active PIR after 5 minutes of door exit can be done in programming, but what if you come back, it will still trigger alarm which is false.
Generally, the PIR sensor used around garage is to switch on light during nighttime or play warning message when it is triggered
I hope it helps

An Outdoor PIR in the car porch as an alarm zone will cause several problems
You can program it to be bypassed when you arm the system to away mode and unbypass it after it is armed, but when you return home, it will cause an immediate alarm if it is programmed as an Immediate zone type.
You could program it as an Entry Door, but this will also cause false alarms iif the PIR detects anything while the system is armed
It is recommended that the outdoor PIR is programmed as Switch Normally Closed zone type. You can program the Zone Response to play a reminder message or switch on lights or triger a short siren sound to scare away anyone who is detected in that area, instead of causing an intruder alarm

Hi slychiu,
Currently I have set the PIR to turn on the light during night time, but I would like to enhance into this way.
Active PIR after 5 minutes of door exit and play a short siren sound & turn on light (during night time) when triggered.
To set PIR active after 5 minutes, therefore the short siren sound will not play when user exit the main door and pass through the car porch area.
After 5 minutes, if someone pass through the car porch area, then play a short siren sound & turn on light (during night time).
Can you please provide me a sample response code to
1. Active PIR after 5 minutes of door exit
2. play a short siren sound
Thank you!
Regards,

Hi Mr Evard, I think there are 3 steps you need to do to achieve that.
1. In Comfigurator, go to "Events">>"Miscellaneous Events", then create a response like below for "Start Arming Response".
The response is to Bypass the PIR Zone first, then 5 minutes later, unbypass it.
To create this response, firstly, you may click "Append new action">>"Input">>"Bypass Zone", then on the right panel, select the PIR Zone. Secondly, click "Append new action">>"Do">>"Do response after timer expires", then on the right panel, you need to select the delay, timer, and choose the response which unbypass PIR, the response to unbypass is to click "Append New Action">>"Input">>"Unbypass Zone", then select the PIR Zone.
2. Create a response to Unbypass PIR for "Security Off Response"(shown below)
This response is to unbypass PIR Zone immediately when you disarm the system, otherwise you have to wait for 5 minutes to get PIR back to work if you disarm the system during this 5 minutes period.
3. In Comfigurator, go to "Security">>"Zones/Inputs", set the PIR Zone as "Switch NC", the create a response for "On Response" shown below
This response is to play a short chime when PIR triggered, if it is during night time, it will turn on light, then 5 minutes later it will turn off automatically, keep triggering PIR will restart the timer.
To create this response, firstly, you need to click "Append new action">>"Output">>"Activate Siren", then select Chime on right panel.
secondly, you need to click "Append new action">>"if">>"Add Condition", select "Night Time" in Attribute and select "<>0" in Comparison. Lastly, to turn on light and off light 5 minutes later, then move up those two codes into if loop. In the picture below, switch on/off output 1 is an example only, to simulate light on/off.

Hi Mr Martin,
Thanks for your reply.
I get the picture now, and I will apply it to Away Mode instead of Start Arming response, because I just want to temporary disable the PIR for 5 minutes when Away mode activated.
If night mode, it should not disable.
Thank you!

Evard
