Hi,
I have the following
Comrfort system 5.164
UCM01 serial 5.178
UCM cbus 5.154
UCM universal 6.026
RIO 2.08
Slave - comfigurator doesn't display this, but it was bought at the same time probably the same as above comfort system
I'd like to know, what are my upgrade options in order to go to V7 firmware?
I'm thinking that the only way to do it is to remove the serial UCM from my slave and place it on the main panel so I can upgrade with the jumper board and a laptop. But what versions should I go with? Can I go directly to V7 firmware? What about the slaves and other UCM's, will they be compatible, how do I upgrade those?
Ultimately I need to fix some telephone bugs and want to use the latest UCM/ETH03 which apparently needs V7 firmware. Would it be useful to get the new ethernet UCM now and use that as part of the upgrade process, if so how?

Grateful for any help/suggestions in advance, I just don't want to brick the system!.Paul

Comfort 2 firmware version < 6 must be upgraded using the ucm firmware cable. You need a new ucm/eth03 or ucm/usb for this. The old ucm01 cannot be used. This will allow the comfort firmware to be upgraded to the latest version 7. The ucm/CBus can also be upgraded to ucm/CBus 2 but you need to buy an eeprom 24c64.
Ucm and comfort firmware 6 and above can be upgraded without the ucm programming cable
The slave should also be upgradable via ucm programming canle
Rio cannot be upgraded but does not need to be

So am i correct in saying I can do the following?
  • Get a ucm/eth03, and without configuring it as a UCM (since its not supported in V5), I can use it to upgrade directly to the latest firmware V7 on the main panel with a laptop.
  • Once done, I reset the system (will it recognise my still V5 slave?).
  • I then upgrade the slave with the programming cable and reset the system again.
  • I install the UCM/ETH03 and get it working in its final resting place. (hopefully I can get it working with comfigurator). Will the UCM01/serial still be functional if not?
  • I can upgrade the universal UCM if necessary using comfigurator, but it will work without upgrade as far as I can see?
  • Alas, looked at my cbus UCM, and it doesn't have a socket for an eeprom, although I'm sure I read somewhere that it can still be upgraded?
ThanksPaul

[size=You dont have to configure it as a UCM, just connect it to Comfort and remove the old UCM01 which may have the same ID on the bus]
  • Once done, I reset the system (will it recognise my still V5 slave?)
[size=Remove the programming cable from the Comfort and connect it to the slave][size=dont worry about the slave until you upgrade that. ]
  • I then upgrade the slave with the programming cable and reset the system again.
[size=yes]
  • I install the UCM/ETH03 and get it working in its final resting place. (hopefully I can get it working with comfigurator). Will the UCM01/serial still be functional if not?
[size=The UCM/ETH03 can work regardless of where you install it as long as its ID is set to 1 and it is unique. UCM01 should be set to the next available id]
  • I can upgrade the universal UCM if necessary using comfigurator, but it will work without upgrade as far as I can see?
[size=If it is working for what yoyu need to do then no need to upgade]
  • Alas, looked at my cbus UCM, and it doesn't have a socket for an eeprom, although I'm sure I read somewhere that it can still be upgraded?
[size=You can send it back to us to add the socket and EEPROM, or perhaps your distributor can do it for you. Or you can leave it as it is]
