I have reported a problem to our internet provider who said to me there is a fault on our line and they sent out a telecomm technician this morning. He did something this morning and now I cannot use my phone line because the phone trouble message comes up blocking the usage of my phone line.

I tried to reset Comfort but that doesn't help. I am trying to contact my service provider to find out what is going on.

Is it possible they stuffed something up on my Comfort system by their fiddling around?

You mean that when you light up the handset you hear "Phone Trouble"

This means that the telephone line is not connected correctly

The telephone line should be connected to TEL IN of Comfort
The house phones should be connected to TEL OUT of Comfort

They may have connected the telephones to the TEL IN

Let the telecom technician know that there is an alarm system

This is a common problem when telecoms people come to meddle with the line
The installation manual gives the correct connnections

They haven't touched anything directly connected to my Comfort system. They have just been mucking around out in the street examining the phone line to my premises.

I see in this thread you say 'The telephone line should be connected to TEL IN of Comfort' but you are telling me now that is not the case.

Now I have contacted my home phone provider who tells me there is a fault when they tested (with Comfort off). Should I leave Comfort off until this is all sorted out?

Plug a normal phone into the Telco socket and make sure it's not a line problem - disconnect Comfort alltogether. This way you will know if it's a Line or Comfort issue. Oh, and don't forget to check the DSL filter, they can also go faulty and cause issues.
