I have had installed by my engineer a Fibaro Binary sensor to an output on Comfort. which in turn is programmed to report an armed status.  With this information it will enable Smartthings (which is connects to it by Z-Wave) to perform numerous tasks thereby bypassing Comfort for some of the more simple automation tasks that Smartthings can simply. The problem is I dont know if this is possible or doable. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Yes it is...

You arm Comfort and it closes a digital output that Fibaro dry-contacts are connected to.
This triggers the Fibaro Binary Sensor to send a Zwave msg to Smartthings to run macros etc
You disarm the output opens and you get another Zwave msg

THanks for reply, I can physically see the events in Smartthings but there is only one, which I believe was when I installed it. Is there a way to see if its communicating?

There are two ways to check...

1) Check to see what Comfort is doing with the digital output (can do this real-time through Comfigurator)
2) Check the zWave logs on SmartThings (if there are some)

Basically, Comfort is just shorting two wires on the Fibaro Binary Sensor when Armed. Depending how brave you are, you can disconnect the Dry-Input wires from Comfort (leave the power ones) and manually short to see if SmartThings registers the event?
