You can actuallly make your own vocabulary using the VoiceProc software from http://www.cytech.biz/voiceproc_software.html
This has a link to the myma words
Some of the words are already recorded but are not in the english residential vocabulary

I'm trying to get to grips with VoiceProc to swap a few words. I have downloaded the Kate_IVS zip from Cytech site but it seems to be incorrect and gives .ini errors in Voice Proc. The zip contains Kate wav files but also empty Myma folders and no Kate.ini but a myma.ini. I have also looked at englishv37cfg in the Myma collection which has some of the required files and am trying to sort out what is needed. Unless I have misunderstood the process it would be helpful if someone could refresh the zips so they contain the correct files.

Also...
Who is "Anita", the default set up with VoiceProc. Can she be used to generate a voice?
-
What is the difference between the various numbered .bin files e.g. Kate37, Kate38, Kate39 ?

The kate and Myma IVS files have now been updated for the latest vocab version 39Please try againUnzip the files to their folders. Open Voiceproc and select the .ini file. This should generate the myma and kate bin files
The difference between the 2 sets is the voice talen that we used, named Kate and Myma. Kate has a more sharp voice, Myma is more calm - I think she is British
Anita is no longer available unfortunately. She was the original voice in Comfort 1
The different versions eg Kate 37,38,39 is due to changes in the words in the wordlist selected by the user or in the fixed sentences. 39 is the latest versionThe Bin files are used by Comfigurator for Vocabulary Upgrade.
You need the ivs files only if you want to customise the user selected words in resid36.tab, OR you want to make a bin file  in a different language in which case all words must be translated and recorded

Thanks Chui - I have eventually worked out how to do the word substitutions with the new IVS files. I now have the 20 words I wanted several years ago.

One further Q. Vocab is uploaded and the custom vocab name set in Modules and Settings -> Word List. It works and I can use all the new words but when I transfer a configuration, Comfigurator keeps warning  me "The wordlist selected is different from the vocabulary programmed in Comfort".

What do I need to do to stop this warning appearing?

Can you send the cclx file with the new word list to support@cytech.biz so that we can check. It has been some time since the custom wqordlist has been used

SOLVED: the Kate.ini file used by VoiceProc to create the custom vocab must have vocabNo set to 254 to indicate to Comfort that it is using a custom vocab and VocustNo must be set to the same value you give to the custom vocab in Cytech/Comfigurator3/Config/vocust.cfg e.g.

VocabNo=254 ;changed to 254 to use TN custom vocab
VocustNo=02 ;changed from 255 to coincide with the Custom directory TyNant in vocust.cfg file in Comfigurator
VocSysVer=39
VocUserVer=1
VocTextVer=2
LCDVer=3
WavesDir=kate.wvd
CompressedDir=kate.dat
VCD_Quality=mid
VocabularyFileName=kateTN.bin ;changed TN
SentencesFileName=sentence36.tab
LCDFileName=lcdkp_v38.cfg
MaxSentenceLength=10
NumOfSysWords=207
SetVol=0.6
TranslationFileName=translat36.tab
NumOfUserWords=141
UserFileName=residTN.tab ;changed TN
NumOfTables=5

Customising the vocab may seem daunting but is straightforward in practice. VoiceProc is obviously primarily a developer tool released to users but works well. Edit the resid.tab word file by hand using the .wav files in folder Kate.wvd as a guide to the words available.Make sure you create new unique file names for Kate.ini, Kate.bin and Userfilename=resid.tab otherwise your original files will get overwritten.Run through VoiceProc. Pay attention to the message tab to check there were no errors. Move new.cfg and the main new.bin files to Cytech/Comfigurator3/Config/

Modify vocust.cfg...

>Custom WordList
00=Spanish Comfort I,cs-wl-sp.cfg,sentence_spa.cfg
01=Maria Cyprus Customised,maria.cfg,sentence.cfg
02=TyNant,KateTN.cfg,sentence.cfg

Upload the vocab using Comfigurator. Takes about 30min and can generate errors. In that case restart. It gets there eventually. With Comfort2 v7.116 Ethernet - I didn't need to disable Slaves and it updated through the network.

Thanks for the help Chiu...
