Hi,
My New Message Alarm config is unchanged from the default as far as I know. I don't have any per-user mailboxes setup, just the default system-wide mailbox as it was out of the box.
I've added a Response on to the New Message alarm type that is supposed to send an SMS message to tell me that there's a new voicemail. The SMS does not get sent though leading me to believe that the New Message alarm is not being triggered.
Does anyone have any clues why this may not be working?
Thanks

The New Message alarm Response should be activated when there is a new message recorded in any mailbox
Make sure that the Response works by doing an "Execute Response" directly
You can send SMS without using Responses using the New Message Alarm by checking Dialout box and enabling the phone 1 to 8 that is assigned to SMS
eg if Phone 3 is SMS to your number, check Dial out box and phone 3

Hi, thanks for the feedback. Definitely something odd going on with my system then.
I'm 99% sure that my response works, it's very basic and is just a single 'SendSMS'. I've got lots of similar 'SendSMS' responses that I use for specific zone notifications, power failure, house phone ringing, etc, and they all work. I will re-check this one again tonight though and prove it as you suggest. I'd be very surprised if it does not work though.
Re. your second point... the New Message alarm is already configured to 'Yes' on Dialout and has all numbers 1-8 set (presumably the defaults?). I only have 3 phone numbers set up though (1 and 2 are SMS, 3 is Voice) but none of those get any messages or calls when a new voicemail is left, so it's as though the New Message alarm is never being triggered at all.
My system was originally purchased about 6 years ago and had firmware 5.xxx but I never got around to using it. I finally installed it all about 6 months ago and upgraded to the latest 7.xxx firmware and everything has been fine apart from a few minor things. I did have one quirky issue that I had to seek your help on where it wouldn't recognise my new UCMs because there was an old config value that was still set to zero. So, I'm just wondering - is there any similar config that you had to do manually on old systems to enable the New Message alarm or anything like that? If not, can you suggest what else could be wrong?

You are right. There is another setting to enable the new message alarm

You assign a user to a phone in order to make it work
eg if user 1 is assigned to phone 3, then when a message is left for user 1, then it will dial to phone 3 according to its type, eg SMS or Voice phone. This is a very old and original feature which has almost been forgotten
You can use User 1 mailbox as the common one
However the New Message alarm Response will not work by itself, as it is special.
You willl have to use the method described here

Thanks, I do recall seeing those mailbox users all set to zero. I'll try it later when I get home.

This solved the problem. I setup phone number 2 on Mailbox for User 1. I could use either the standard Dial-out, or disable Dial-out and use my custom SMS message. Keypad usage for a single common voicemail box still worked from both user sign-ins.
