Hi All Thank you for your patience, it's been slowly cooking in the development kitchen, but we are close enough now to start talking about what the new solution looks like. The hardware is in the final stages of development, I have a working prototype and there are some small changes necessary for the release version to help manage the PSU. We don't expect these to take long to implement and I believe we could have a commercial version available in Q2 '18. On the software front, there has been a radical change of approach. The new solution has no need of Samsung SmartThings, although legacy support will be included for those of you who value the capabilities of SmartThings. The new solution has it's own drag and drop user interface, which is based on Node-Red. This is an incredibly powerful but user friendly logic engine which will allow you do everything you have been able to do in SmartThings [and a whole lot more] without relying on your internet connection or SmartThings to get things done. It comes with support for lots of services including Philips Hue, Amazon Echo, WeMo, IFTTTT, PushBullet, Netatmo, OpenZWave, Zigbee and quite literally hundreds of others. It is also extensible, so if you have a weird and wonderful device, there is nothing stopping you from adding it. The dedicated UCM add reliability to the solution. It makes use of the Raspberry Pi Compute module which is an industrial grade version of the regular Pi, and it is directly linked to the UCM. The UCM can be connected to the local network in the same way as a standard UCM/Ethx and provides backward compatibility so no other UCM is required for programming via Comfort. The Pi can be managed by hardware watchdog timers in the UCM, adding further reliability into the system. I am thinking of introducing this solution via a web seminar, in order to gauge reaction and take onboard any suggestions before I lock the V1 production capabilities. I am considering doing this Wednesday 9th May, in 1 or 2 sessions, early morning and early evening subject to demand. I may also make a recording available for those of you who can't make it. If you are interested, please let me know by commenting against this thread, and I'll plan accordingly. Many Thanks, Matt |

HI Matt, Been using your standalone image with SmartThings since I upgraded my Comfort system a month ago and am very pleased with it. Your recent development of bringing it into node-red on the UCM/Pi seems to be a good idea and I look forward to hearing more. I'm certainly interested in participating in a 'webinar' as would I be in the new hardware solution when it becomes available. I guess my main concern is the impact the power supply of UCM integrated compute module has on the Comfort PSU which in my case is already close to capacity. I see though that you will be addressing this in the seminar. Best regards Clive Last edited on Sunday Apr 22nd, 2018 11:01 am by clivesanders |

Hey Matt, you might have this coveted, bit would be interested in seeing if how we could use feofencing with the new setup. I find the smartthings geofrncing to be unreliable tbh. |

Hi Folks Thanks for your interest. I would like to ensure we can include Cytech on the call, and therefore would like to propose 9am on Wednesday 9th May. I will introduce the new UCM, talk about the benefits and address concerns related to power consumption. I will then demonstrate the Node-Red integration, from a introduction to the basic principles, building a simple dashboard through to integrating control and events to and from the Cytech system to Amazon Alexa, Phillips Hue, Apple HomeKit and even an LG TV. I will do this via a Webex conference, and will need to send out invites, so if you are interested in attending, please PM me your email address so I can add you to the meeting. Thanks, Matt p.s. Chiu and I are also discussing make beta versions available for users at a reduced price, we may touch on this during the meeting too... |

Spent a few hours playing around with node red in a docker - I have to say its superb, much more functionally rich than smartthings / web core. |

I suggest you to buy the cm3 with 32gb. I had one with 4gb and isn’t usable because you will find yourself fill the emmc quicker as you think! |
