I'm looking to add the UCM/Pi, and curious if it will be able to send out commands to other smart devices, such as sending an on/off command to an Alexa enabled mains switch?
If so, that would mean my CBUS switches can then control Alexa enabled mains modules, which would be amazing.
Thanks

The ucmpi, van have openhab or himeassistant running on it. I have comfort controlling a velbus system, and using openhab, I was able to get velbus pushbuttons to control hue lights for example, so I would image it would be very doable.

Hi Palmlodge.
If you're interested in the UCM/Pi and are prepared to join the beta programme (as wexfordman has), please drop me a note on matt.brain@alphawerk.co.uk and we can go from there.
Thanks,
Matt

Hi,
I have Cbus and Comfort all set up at home running on a raspberry pi using Openhab along with Alexa and various other devices. As long as you have a Raspberry pi running cgate and Openhab you can communicate to Comfort via the Eht03/UCM. I've only just got my Comfort system up and running but already I have it communicating with Openhab via MQTT, the response rate is super fast even when not on the same network.
Please to help if needed
Cheers
Matt

Good to hear Matt.

We have OpenHab and HomeAssistant support running including automatic discovery of objects over MQTT. All this is done on a UCM/Pi which is directly connected and powered by the Comfort system, benefits from a higher baud rate than a standard UCM and has a hardware watchdog to monitor its health.

Happy to show you round if you wish to discuss further,

Thanks,

Matt

Cheers Matt,
I'm just getting my head around comfort at the moment, i luckerly moved into a house 3 years ago that had CBus and Comfort already installed but the previous owner didn't know how to use them and they were redundant for around 10 years. So i've had Cbus running on Openhab for a good while, the only time it has crashed is when i've been 'playing' with it. My kids think its normal now and use it regularly via Alexa etc, I also have a few Hifiberry's that are connected to cbus via Openhab so the kids can play music in their rooms using the cbus saturn lights that has been programmed to start a playlist using Openhab and Volumio.
My point is is that i just purchased a Eth03/UCM so i wont be buying anything anytime soon as the wife will go nuts.
Have you created a binding for Openhab?
Cheers
Matt

Not a binding as such, but as OpenHab supports HomeAssistant discovery over MQTT, I just created a flow which used it.

Thanks,

Matt

It's documented here: https://www.home-assistant.io/docs/mqtt/discovery/

We have turned this into a Node-Red flow which parses the Comfort Comfiguration file and created the necessary nodes and then populates them with event data as they come in.

At the moment it publishes Zones, Output, Counters, Flags and Sensors and allows Virtual Zones, Outputs, Counters and Flags to be set.

I haven't yet added the alarm control panel, but that is also supported by they discovery protocol.

Attached is a screen grab of the flow running live, you can see and event has just come in from a zone under the Zone Event and Poll Zones node
