When they change the line to Digital, BT should provide an analog port which can connect to analog phones, Otherwise all the phones will not work. You can connect Comfort TEL in to the analog port and connect the house phones to TEL OUT. Comfort should still be able to dial out. However with these digital lines, the DTMF detection may not work as well as before, because these digiatal lines introduce more delays, as they are meant for voice only..Similarly dialing to Central Monitoring stations (alarm Receiving stations) may not work for the same reason. If there is a problem then I suggest getting a UCM/GSM module which will work on the mobile 3G network. Then you will not need the phone line |

I may have problems, the 3G signal is very poor where I am :-( |

What about 4G? There is a UCM/4G but it is more expensive |

Hi Ian, I was wondering how you got on with BT's switch to Digital Voice? Like you, I live in an area where mobile signal is really bad, and 4G not reliably available. I have to decide whether to keep my landline and if Comfort still worked with BT Digital Voice, I would keep it just to have a reliable connection to the alarm system. What was your experience? Thanks,Paul |

With BT Digital Voice, you can plug in your old phone into the Hub. I would expect that Comfort can make outgoing calls, and you can call to comfort. I dont know that the DTMF tones would be recognised by Comfort due to the delays that may be introduced by the digital service |

I have bought an Analogue Terminal Adapter (ATA), Asterisk running on a Pi and some SIP handsets to accommodate the switch to Digital Voice and retired an analogue PABX. The big thing I see is the Comfort expects the analogue phone transaction to be dial 9; get a dial tone; dial a number; with the digital systems you don't get the intermediate dialtone step. You need to send all the digits at once. I am experimenting with removing the PABX flag on the line and seeing if I can get it to dial out successfully but haven't succeeded yet (have other things to tackle first) |

Ub Alarms > Configuration Flags, there is a checkbox "Wait for Dial Tone". Uncheck the box so Comfort will not wait for a dial tone before dialing. It will start dialing after a 5 se4cond delay Attachment: waitforDial.jpg (Downloaded 12 times) Last edited on Sunday Apr 28th, 2024 02:56 am by slychiu |
