I still have a Comfort 1 (yes, I know, time to change!).
All of a sudden I have heard the keypad announcing "Communication Failure 81".  I can't find any reference to "81" in the various documents which talk about SEM, LEM etc - so I am hoping someone can shed some light on where I need to look.
It may be related, or maybe not, but I have always had zones 1 and 5 configured to announce when they are activated.  They are both zones on the main board, of course. At the moment, I hear the announcement for zone 5, but not for zone 1.
Any thoughts would be very welcome.
Thanks,
Nick

"Communications failure 81" . Refer to this post for the meaning of the IDs http://www.comfortforums.com/forum77/5051.html

81 is RIO or IRIO ID 1. Do you have an old RIO?

Hi Chiu,
Thanks for the prompt and helpful response.  I do indeed have an old RIO, so that makes sense. I have just had a poke around with my meter and I can see 12V on JP12 which is the power coming in. But on the connector blocks, I am only seeing 0.39V between the 12V and 0V connections - so something is pulling that voltage down.
So, tomorrow (when I am properly awake) I will have a look to see whether something is shorting the RIO output. If not, then maybe what looks like it's a small voltage regulator on the RIO board may have died.
On your point about upgrading, do you have a recommended UK installer?
Thanks,
Nick
