Installing the FPR01 into an existing system - are there any other dependancies ? Does it need it's own UCM ?

Or can it just plug in wothout anything extra ?

Yes the FPR01 needs its own UCM - UCM/Access to link up with Comfort. There is also a minimum firmware required. Refer to the manual on Cytech's website at http://www.cytech-technology.com/manuals.html under Fingerprint Reader for more details.

The FPR01 will come with the special UCM/Access
However it is not available in Europe yet, as the fingerprint reader is not RoHs compatible yet. This part is not manufactured by us so it is out of our control
We hope that this will change in a few months

If you havent already take a look here. It is a brief review that I did when it came out and covers a couple of the gotachs

Three modules:- FP reader, Control module & FP UCM.

As well as the correct level of firmware be aware that Comfigurator does not fully support the module yet?. There are a couple of bug-et's to clear out which you can easiliy work around via programming user responses via the keypad. The big issue then is that you will need to redo this each time you download the config from Comfigurator, so take notes.

You will be happy to know that the bug has been fixed in Comfigurator 2.1.5 (when we release it)

regards
