Trying to work out how to begin Entry Mode delay by a sensor (currently zone type 5).

The problem is that I have a garage (accessed through remote door opener) and then a sensor inside the garage. i would then like that sensor to start the entry sequence and require the user to jump out of the car and punch in the code.

Currently though you open the garage door and start driving and the alarm immedietely goes off.

I am sure this is real basic but just can't work out it.

thanks!

Why not add a contact on the garage door and use that zone as an Entry door? This has an added advantage of allowing you to press the Away mode, drive out of the garage and let the system arm when the garage door closes.

An Entry Door is always the best option, as it allows you to arm the system when you leave and to start an entry delay when you come back

If you dont have an entry door, you can use the Start Entry Delay Action assigned to the PIR, eg

If SecurityMode = NightMode Then
    Start EntryDelay
End If

Refer to Responses 53 and 54 in the defaults

Thanks guys i'll give this a go.

Can't put switch on garage door as its VERY innaccesable. Well I probably could but it'd be a massive pain.

Why not just set the garage sensor to an entry zone? Then it will do just what you need.

Alternatively the opener may well have an output on it which could be wired to the panel to trigger the entrydelay. If not you could use the courtesy light or add a contact to the mech.

The problem with using a PIR sensor as an entry door is that when leaving you are likely to trigger it several times. This would cause the system to arm prematurely.

Unless you set the Away Arming method to Exit Delay so the system arms only after the exit delay and not by the closure of the Entry Door
