Does anyone know of any outdoor temperature sensors (reasonable cost) that can be hooked up to Comfort? I\'ve seen a few where you can define setpoints in the device and it triggers the relay (to alarm/alert) when it falls outside of this range, but what I\'d like is for the temperature reading to be available on a counter so it can be interrogated and used in responses etc.
Any ones known or interfaced so far by anybody?

The SCS has a built in temperature sensor but it is not for outdoor use and the cost is higher because of the switch plate etc
If there is interest we can make the PCB of this available to be housed in your own enclosure to detect temeperature for Comfort
Sounds good. To have a temperature probe (even as a PCB for us to mount respectively in our own enclosures) for outside temp, greenhouse temp, airing cupboard temp etc etc would be really powerful addition in my opinion.

I used a thermocouple attached to an input, but this is not very precise.
Wonder if someone can build a simple working sensor to attach on an input zone, and post the electronic schema.

If a sensor was connected to a zone input then wouldn\'t it only be able to detect on/off alert state rather than record the temperature in a say a counter(s). This is where I thought the SCS/RIO UCM came in as it could do this sort of thing via \"sensors\"?
You can read the analog value of an input zone from 0 to 255.
Non only On/off.
Clarification:
The 8 inputs on Comfort and Slaves can also be analog inputs where the value is from 0 (0V) to 255 (3V)
The action Get Analog Input gives the reading at the specified input
Inputs on the LEMs are not analog inputs
On the UCM, the command A?nn where nn is the input number gives a reply A?nnvv where vv is the value of the input 0 to 255

OK that makes sense but since I\'ll be mounting outside I presume potential hostile access to the comfort bus could be a security hole if somebody opens the enclosure (or is my paranoia just working overtime

I\'ll put a tamper switch on the housing anyway but any advise on how/if I should bolt down further. ie can the KA/KB or even the UCM be disabled too if the tamper fires so as to disable any potential access to the bus. I was thinking of using my old UCM (from my UCM/Ethernet combo once I\'ve upgraded to the UCM05) as the way to host the KA/KB connector at the panel end so if this interface could be disabled by a response whilst the tamper is active is my thought....?
Possible/needed/advice?

It is a vulnerability. Tamper will set off the alarm so it is unlikely that the intruder will stick around to disable the communications
If you are handy with a soldering iron you can remove the sensor from the PCB and mount it outside with connecting wires
