Hi

I note in the comfort installation manual, it specifies that the cable to the keypads must use STP (sheilded twisted pair).

Is this definitely necessary, or might I get away with ordinary 6 core alarm cable ?

I\'m fitting Comfort to my selfbuild project; when I started out and did my first fix wiring I was only ever intending to use a standard alarm system, for which 6-core alarm cable to the keypads was fine, and that is what I installed. Of course we are all plastered out now so I really don\'t want to have to change my wiring.

I guess I try it and see ?

You may not really need STP, but UTP (CAT5) would certainly be much better than alarm cable

You may get away with 6 core alarm cable if the distance is not long. If you have no choice that is what you will have to try. The consequences may be noise on the audio when you hear the voice menu or talk on the keypad intercom or perhaps communication errors

6 core cable also does not  give you any spare cables if there is any problem with the cables

Well today I wired up a single keypad to Comfort for initial testing.
It\'s using 6-core alarm cable over a distance approximately 10-15m.

The voice announcements seem perfectly clear, so hopefully I\'ve got away with it
