Hi There,

New to this forum although I Installed my Comfort 1 System nine years ago.

Just had a new outbuilding put up and want to expand the system and have a couple of queries.

1) Want to put a keypad in the outbuilding that is 150 metres away - what is the max lenght of screened cat 5 that the keypad will work at?

2) Currently have no LEM or SEP\'s - only need two Zones in the outbuilding, would I be best just having an LEM in the main panel and running the Zone cables down to the outbuilding or having an SEP in the outbuilding and running the Zones and Keypad from that?

Cheers in advance

Keypads 150 m away should be ok. If you can, use shielded CAT5 to minimise noise on the audio. Double up the 12V and Ground on the spare pairs in the cable. There have been installations up to 500 meters

It is a tossup between installing a Slave in the outbuilding and running 2 zone wires back to the LEM on the main panel. If you expect further expansion I would go for the Slave.
