Yes nice idea, a new DS01 might solve the problem, but at ã450 iam afraid i\'ll have to live with replacing the ã2.95 speaker every couple of years. ( Not sure I will live another 300 years to recoup the cost saving
) Will look at your suggestion of the speaker touching the metal faceplate as a possible cause of failure.

I presumed replacing the original paper coned speaker with a mylar one would solve the problem... clearly not. As Chiu states the speaker should be a 32ohm 1 watt. Just need the Diameter... do you have yours to hand to measure? I will take mine apart as soon as I get home..but won\'t be back till the weekend and was hoping to order a replacement so I only had to take it apart once. Just had a look on the net and having trouble finding 32ohm 1 watt speakers of any size and cannot remember where I sourced the last one.. Anybody got suggestions?
