Comfort Automation/ Security System Forums

This morning my Comfort gave a beeping sound from the keypad just as I was leaving. It stopped and I didn\'t have time to look into it. This evening it has obviously been running on battery all day and was barely responding.

It looks like it lost mains power. It\'s not the external fuse as power is getting to the transformer, but nothing is reaching the main board. Is it likely that either the transformer or the rectifier that has failed? This system has been running fine for 7 years.

Are you able to measure the AC voltage into Comfort from the transformer? It should be about 15V AC
If there is no voltage then the transformer has failed and you can get a replacement transformer, and Comfort may be OK

If there is 15 VAC into the AC IN connector then something has failed in Comfort

I hadn\'t noticed the fuse on the connector by the transformer. I was checking the voltage on the mains side. That fuse has blown, so I hope that a replacement will resolve the problem. It\'s a 250mA 250V fuse.

I can\'t test the input voltage as the fuse blows as soon as
the power is turned on.

Update: had to buy some fuses, but one popped as soon as I powered up, so it looks like the transformer has died. I\'ll pick up another one some time soon.

I know transformers don\'t generally fail, but I can only think that it has somehow shorted internally so that the resistance of the primary coil has dropped enough to cause enough current to flow to blow the fuse. A new transformer is fairly cheap, so I may as well try one.
