Full Version: CAT5e for PIR runs

Hi,

I\'m rewiring a 1960\'s house at the moment (just bought last month, stripped and chasing out walls over the next week or so). I\'m putting a fair bit of CAT5e in for networking and some other low voltage stuff. Can I just do additional runs for the PIR\'s? All runs should be less than 10m, though they will have to run parallel for a couple of metres with a fair bit of mains wiring at a separation distance of 2\".

Thanks,

Steve
I expect PIR wiring should not cause much problem, although a further disance from the mains would be more comfortable. You never know what effect itg may have over the long run
I prefer alarm cable for PIRs and alarm sensors- more flexible and less likely to break but CAT should be OK
