One way control from Comfort to LightwaveRF is possible using the UCM/Universal + ETH02

The Universal UCM allows interfacing of almost any 3rd party home automation system with Comfort. This can be ordered with a RS232, RS485 (Isolated) , or Ethernet interface depending on the device to be connected.
The Universal UCM with ETH03 interface is required for LightwaveRF

The Universal UCM can be programmed for baud rate, parity, checksum and other parameters to match that of the 3rd party device. It has a user interface which allows any command to be sent to the device. Commands or messages can also be received from the other device and mapped to Comfort Registers like Counters, Sensors, Keypad keys and Virtual Inputs. However the LightwaveRF product is only one way, ie it accepts commands but does not send status

Just spotted lightwave rf in maplin, and was thinking of gettinga few sockets if I can integrate with comfort.

Is the interface still one way only, or are there waysor plans to make it two way ?


Edit:- Doh! just spotted, lightwave is one way only! Think I will stay away so.

The Lightwave Interface has to be one way because Lightwave itself is one way, ie it does not send any information back. This keeps their costs down for their DIY market

I spotted that and edited the post. Was only thinking about it to try and get a wireless solution to some outdoor shed. I have velbus so might run a few pairs out for it instead.

It appears the the LightwaveRF API has changed without notice over the last several months
The method of registering a device like Phone or UCM/ETH03 has changed as well as the format of commands to the API

We have not received any reply to requests for technical information so far

We do not recommend any new user to try to implement the LightwaveRF interface via Universl UCM with ETH02/03 until this is cleared up

From the lightwave forum
I am using it with Crestron. I have fixed it Wednesday (17.Sep.2014) by adding “100″ in front of every command.All you have to send is “100,!R1D1F1\\x0D” and it works fine. No need to reregister or change anything else.

Yes, we also found that out, but it is worrying that the API can change without notice

This can cause a lot of support issues especially if it happens again

Hence I suggest that those who are considering Lightwave with Comfort should be cautious

What\'s the current thinking with LightwaveRF. Is this a viable extension to Comfort or is ZWave preferred?

There is a bit of uncertainty about Lightwave, with these unnanounced changes in the API. We are not able to contact them unlike when we first started working on the integration, so I would not call this a viable option at this time.
