It\'s going in a whole new direction now; To determine the ring / silence periods i connected a external phone to the TEL OUT of comfort so i could compare the dial tone periods with hte actual ring periods. As you can guess by now; comfort is answering all my calls! Internal / external, all my calls are accepted by comfort after the number of rings. As soon as i disconnect the extra phone from the TEL OUT, same problems appear. So it looks like the ring cadence is not the problem?

To get it clear, do you mean that it wil not answer calls when there is NO local phone at all on TEL OUT?
It could have something to do with the ring cadence, perhaps it was very close to 5.5 seconds but connecting a phone distorted the ring detection slightly?

My problem as described in this thread occurs when there is no phone connected to TEL OUT. After connecting a phone to TEL OUT, and reset comfort so it will answer at least the first internal call as previously mentioned, it will answer all external and internal incoming calls. I cannot detect any change in the cadence..
Recap; with TEL OUT not connected it will answer all internal calls till the moment an external call is received, this call is not picked up by comfort and from then on, all internal calls are also not answered. After a comfort reset it will answer the internal calls again until the first external call is received.
with TEL OUT connected to a phone all calls, internal or external are answered as expected

I seem to have solved my problem with the answering machine.
I recently had some problems with my ADSL line which resulted in me changing the ADSL splitter out for a higher quality one.
After rewiring comfort into the new splitter, it seems to work correctly.

Its good to know the splitter was cauing the problem. If anyone else still has the problem of answering after two rings, let us have the details.
There is also a firmware issue which we have identified. This occurs when the system is behind a PABX or a system which has different ring cadences. The latter system could have several telephone numbers connected to the same physical line but rings with a different ring cadence depending on the number called.
