to all that have given me help and feedback to get the working - many thanks. I've now have an alarm dashboard which is working and several sensors visible in HA. Wasn't doing much wrong to be honest. Just lack of attention to the details 
and rushing. Bit more complicated than I first thought but not too bad in the end. Again thanks. Plus this is a fantastic add on.
