If I understand the specs I\'ve read the recommendation is to site the UCM/Smartfit in a Unibox next to the Smartfit control box;  in my case next to the hot water cylinder.

My Ultra II is about 6m away as the crows or should I say cables fly!

So I\'d need to make up a bespoke cable to conncet the RS385 4 pin header on the UCM to the 4 pin header on Comfort.

Two questions then;

(a) what spec cable; is screened ie FTP Cat5e OK?

(b) what is the model/name of the 4 pin connectors I\'d need to buy to terminate each end of the cable? ie what connector am I searching for on the internet as I need to buy in the UK?

Regards

Julian
You dont have to make up a special cable.

The UCM/Smartfit has terminal blocks for KA/KB and 12V/GND

These are connected to Comfort using the normal twisted pair cables eg CAT5

The 4 way white cable can be used where the distance between the cables is short, but when the distance is long like in your case, use the terminal blocks for connection

Ok.

All the pictures I\'ve seen of the card though just show the single pins sticking up at the top edge of the PCM onto which I presume the blue terminal blocks push.

Do you know if these terminal blocks can be purchased seperately by the way.  The ones I\'ve seen on the internet seem to have the pins attached for soldering through the PCB,  your method of attachment they seem to just puich on to pre-soldered pins set at the correct spacing?

They may be available separately though I dont know where. These are very convenient as they can be disconnected easily wihout having to unscrew. You can order some spares from your Comfort supplier
