As many users have requested, our Comfort IR Learner now has the ability to convert Pronto Hex Codes into the Comfort IR format
This allows users to the large library of publicly available Pronto IR codes eg at http://www.remotecentral.com/cgi-bin/files/rcfiles.cgi?area=pronto&db=discrete

The software is attached here for beta testing. We would like those who have access to the Infrared devices and the Pronto codes to try te software and give us feedback

This new version also fixes some problems with IR learning, and should be able to learn more IR signals without problems now

Have developed a test program to output various IR commands in response to button presses on a RC01. I realise there is a potential IR conflict here but I\'m sheiding to the two systems.

However I have tried it and I\'m not having a lot of joy. The pasted hex codes certainly seem to take less memory space and also seem to transmit for less time. Ie my tale-tale LED flashes less.

The reality is that if I use a comfort learnt code that works and it I use a hex code it does not. It will intermittantly if I keep outputting the code

IR test responces now attached to test switch inputs to remove any potential IR pollution.

Attached are 2 files for comparasion.

Systemline (Speaker) codes work fine and were learnt, with difficulty from a UCM.

Systemline (Activespeaker) are cut and pasted hex codes that work with other remotes, (RTI, Pronto). However I only get an intermittant response from the device. And that is only if I repeatedly keep sending the code. The code seems much shorter in duration.

Not sure how easy it would be to do but it would be great to have an online test facility from the UCM and IR Learner. Guess there loads of technical issues here, codes in PC at the time of learning and no IR emitter.

First of all, thanks for trying out the new software and sharing your result.

As for the difficulties in learning via UCM, did you use it with the new software (ie. v1.2.1.0)?  This version should work better... 

I have looked through the 2 files posted.  The signals, from hex code and UCM, are a little bit different.  Those pronto hex signals are really shorter, as you have observed.  You can verified with the graph display when you are encoding the signals with the new software.

Have you tried those hex code with a Pronto device to see if those hex codes are good and reliable (ie. able to trigger, instead of just intermittently)?  Are those hex codes extracted from the Internet or generated by your own learning via a Pronto device?

I\'m happy to continue this via email if it is easier...

Attached are the raw codes learnt from the Pronto. These work reliably with the Pronto but perhaps it repeats the codes or processes them in some way that your SW does not?

Can we have a new button on the “Encode process window” called “Relearn” ? Make it easy to use no are you sure prompts etc. Just saves several key presses when you know it has not learnt OK.

Also once we have the Hex Code cut and paste working can the “Start” button be changed to “enter” so that we can skip the encoding page, after all if it is hex data it should be OK.

I\'ve tried it and converted some Sony AV codes - appears to work quite nicely.

The new version of Infrared Learner 1.2.1.1 is attached. The bug which caused the software to be unable to save the raw file is fixed
