Hot off the press KP04 MKII this time with the all important back box...






Still a few tweaks to be made, hole for mic, volume control etc. but comments & feedback welcome.

The current design will work in brick, dry lined walls or studded walls that have a noggin directly behind that you could chisel out.

The front finish will be flush and manufactured from polished stainless steel. Other finishes could potentially be available.

For me I guess aesthetically the layout does look a little odd now because of the wider panel but we will never win this debate. However this can still be tweaked.

The advantage of pursuing this route is that we can have something now as opposed to a complete redesign.

If you would like to see the unit it in the flesh then we are hoping to have it on display at the Grand Designs Exhibition 5-7 Oct along with Comfort.

How does the faceplate attach to the back box as it\'s not obvious from the picture?

How do you adjust the volume; by removing the face plate first?

Front plate fixings have to be finalised yet but clips or magnets are possibilities. The aim would be to keep the panel clean.

At this point in time yep the only way to change the volume is to remove the panel.

We are working with the standard KP04 PCB. We could mount a knob on top so that it protudes but it kills the asthetic. So still looking for a solution here.

Not sure if the volume control will be an issue.... However a magnetic front panel and a knob underneath would  be a good compromise

I\'d order two right now for a project if possible - and yes my client would take a prototype as long as the back box isn\'t going to change at any stage, they\'re both going to sit next to a Dynalite Revolution panel with Stainless Steel cover - so ideal.

Thanks for putting the work in on this! It has it\'s downsides but without a complete PCB redesign and the timescale that would involve, this is a great improvement (and I\'m serious about the prototype order - KP04\'s are already on order)

Nick PM me with your timescales and I\'ll see what can be done. There is still a lot to be done but nothing insumountable.

I assume you are using the mono Dynalite panel? The panel in the pictures is yet to be polished so I guess it would not be to hard to convert to a brushed stainless finish.
