So what\'s the story with a EN03 enclosure?

I have a LEM03 & ADM01 and will have 4 UCMs so will all that fit in an EN03?

I didn\'t realise you can stack UCMs until I saw that in one of the photos in this post.

The photos in this topic will show how many holes are on the EN03 for mounting
There are 3 positions for UCM/RIO sizes
If you stack UCMs you may be able to fit everything in but it will be rather crowded
It is best to get another enclosure

When using an enclosure fir expansion, what is the best mehtod for doing this with regards power supply etc. The reason I ask is I have both a spare comfort 1 and comfort 2 unit, and was thinking of re-using one or the other as an expansion enclosure and power supply! So, what would be the best method of doing this

1) Use comfort 1 enclosure and board with psu and battery
2) Use comfort 2 enclosure and the psu part of the comfort 2 board with psu and battery.

If I go for option 2 above, where do I take my 12v supply from seeing as it is normally given on the other half of the board, where can I take it where I know the 12v is combined from both battery and psu in case of mains failure ?

The Comfort 2 PSU board alone is not able to work by itself, because it needs the controller part to turn it on

Personally I think there is a need for either an adapter plate or revised chassis that allows for more than 3 UCM\'s inside the enclosure.

Yes potentially they are stackable but looking at a lot of mine they also have daughtercards with high components which IMHO would make it difficult to all fit.

If one of the upsells for Comfort is people adding more functionality through additional UCM\'s then IMHO Cytech should make it easier for people to do this. Maybe some thought to on how components are laid out on boards if UCM\'s are to be designed for stacking. For example I don\'t think I could stack the following combinations in the case (and boy I\'ve toyed with it!).

* UCM/ETh02 and UCM/ZWave
* UCM/Eth02 and UCM/GSM
* UCM/ZWave and UCM/GSM

The daughtercards and high standing components blow this out of the water!.

It is not feasible to fit all the modules you can possibly need into a single enclosure. The larger the size, the more costly it is to ship pverseas, and the current size is already contributing significantly to the cost  of a Comfort in say the UK
Furthermore the large size of the enclosure makes it easier to be distorted during transport
The better solution is to use spare enclosures that are smaller and have the required mounting holes. Thus you only use the number of smaller enclsoyres that you need

That makes 100% sense and I\'m all for keeping the costs down.

But even in en EN03 you can only fit 3 UCM side-by-side at the moment (correct?) with these I assume being powered from the main cabinet power supply/bus.

Surely we can physically fit more in this cabinet without even stacking if there were more mounting studs?

Can we have an adapter plate then instead (but that then adds to the weight) or maybe even more mounting screw holes.

An ideal scenario would be some sort of mesh (lots of threaded holes) that you could attach boards anywhere a bit like plugging some Lego onto its base board or a pcb prototype board.

Hey I\'m thinking of Cytech revenue here; it\'s a lot easier to sell another UCM if you\'ve got somewhere quick to install it without having to worry about buying a new cabinet, trying to find space on the wall to fit it, powering it, running cable trucking to it etc etc! Wink

Have been there and even tried to patent the idea some years ago.

There are similar enclosures in manufacture in plastic let me know if it is of interest.

The example shown here is totally flexible - ill post some other pics
