If you disconnect the battery, does the system power off?

If so I would check the power socket that the Comfort ias connected to has mains voltage, and the connections from the transformer to the Comfort 14VAC terminal blcok

I disconnected the battery and the system goes off completely. The unit is connected to a mains socket using one of these https://www.cheapalarmparts.com.au/products/Transformer-Plug-Pack-18v-TF008%252dB.html

The power socket itself is OK as I connected a lamp to it and the wires from this power plug seem OK in the terminal block on the main board.Do you think maybe the power plug/transformer has died?Forgot to mention this earlier but this problem seems to have come about after our street had planned power outage for maintenance work.
Thanks

The most likely culplrit is that plug in transformer
If you have a multimeter measure the output wires connected to the Comfort AC In. It should be 18VAC
If not just buy another

If power was off for a long time and the system was runnng on battery, that may have drained to battery to very low and damaged it, since the battery  was already many years oldf
