Comfort I was phased out in 2005 due to the unavailability of key components like the microprocessor and DSP. This was replaced by Comfort II, the new generation family of products which include Slave Expansion Modules (SEP01-M2), UCM06 (RS232, Ethernet and USB), UCMs for C-Bus, KNX, Z-Wave, Velbus, GSM,  etc.
To summarise, the benefits of Comfort II over Comfort I include
  1. \"Flashable\" CPU with upgradable firmware using UCM and Comfigurator. Update firmware with the latest features and bug fixes if applicable
  2. Two way intercom between Keypads and Door Stations, Phone and Keypad or Door station - both sides can talk at the same time.
  3. If/Then/Else conditional logic and combination logic conditions IF, OR supported (with Comfigurator 3 software) - This allows customised programming to be done for the customer.
  4. Sunrise/Sunset times based on City or Lattitude/Longitude coordinates. This allows Responses to be activated at sunrise and sunset.   The Time changes automatically for Daylight saving.
  5. Accurate Real Time Clock (typically a few minutes per month) This allows Time Programs to be accurate.
  6. 32 Time Programs, 16 Reminder Messages, 64 Timers in Ultra II. This allows things to be done automatically at preset times.
  7. 600 Alarm Events in Event Log (Ultra II). This allows alarm history to be viewed and saved
  8. Electrical isolation of circuit from Earth for better protection from surge voltages (eg induced Lighting)
  9. GSM Module sends text messages for each alarm, and allows Text messages to control Comfort. Requires UCM/GSM
  10. More Support for external interfaces (Velbus, Cbus, KNX, Velbus, Dynalite, Crestron, rako etc) Requires special UCM Modules
  11. iPhone, iPad, and Android apps available. Other user interfaces include Wizcomfort and ComfortClient (third party software) Requires UCM/Ethernet
  12. Built in Battery protection if battery voltage drops during extended power failure. This protects the battery during extended power failure.
  13. VoiceProc/VoicePlay software allows customised wordlists in any language to be developed This allows different languages to be used in Comfort
  14. New KT03 touchscreen keypad
As there are many thousands of users who have used Comfort I for many years, Cytech would like to give the opportunity and to encourage all Comfort I users to upgrade to Comfort II and keep their systems current as well as allow us to provide better support. Spare parts for Comfort I are limited.

To qualify for the upgrade, details of the Comfort I serial number must be supplied.

Can I use the new LEMs to expand an old Comfort1 system?

  • LEM01, LEM02, LEM03 (Comfort I) - Cannot be used with Comfort II Controller or Slave.  Outputs of LEM01 may exhibit random outputs switching effects
  • LEM01, LEM02, LEM03 (Comfort 2) - The new LEMs can be used with Comfort 1 Controller and Slave Modules as replacements
You can expand an old Comfort I with Comfort II LEMs but not the other way round

hi there, i\'m a system integrater. i have afew questions with regards to the comfortII system.

as mentioned in your list of benefits;

For pointers 2 - 14. 

- may i know for the abovementioned points, how is this beneficial to the end user and how is it differ from comfort I? my customers are layman, so appreciate that you could explain to a layman terms.

- Also, i would like to know can all these configuration able to be done on the main controller itself, or we have to add in additional modules to fulfill all the benefits mentioned?

All of these can be beneficial for  the end user. Some are apparent like GSM Module sending text messages in case of alarms and really require no further explanation
Others are tools for the integrator to customise for the end user eg Time Programs  to schedule things to happen like lights turning off, or alarm to be armed. Or the ability to use Logic If/Then statements in programming. These depend on the installer to design a system for the customer which suits his/her requirements

I have added comments to each point where appropriate to assist you in understanding them

Where extra modules are required, it is also stated eg UCM/GSM is required for GSM

You really need to get your hands on an evaluation system so you can see the system in action and what the possibilties are.

Training courses are also available for new integrators.
