- brianza - 05-03-2009 Dear All, I have recently been asked by a client to use the comfort intercom facility using his current door station. The door station works just fine and the option \"press 4 to open gate\" is there too. The wiring is as follows: Comfort OP1 to RLY01 OP1 Comfort 12v to RLY01 12v RLY01 NC1 to Gate Strike RLY01 Com to Gate Strike Open Gate Response (under misc events) is set as follows: Pulse Output01 for 30 The stike does not open at all. I am now suspecting that the gate stike is actually defective and need to provide this to the client (this was supplied with the gate and not by myself). If I were to attach a multimeter on the side of the strike, what should I actually be registering in order to confirm that the comfort is actually ok? rgs Brian - admin - 05-04-2009 Thanks for a clear description of what you have done Your connections seem to be correct You have programmed 4 to open gate to Pulse Output 1 providing a dry contact to the Gate strike First you should confirm if the gate strike works by shorting the points connected to the RLY01. This should release the gate. If it does not then the gate strike has a problem. If it does, then the fault lies on the Comfort side Also (if the strike does not release) check if the gate strike is supposed to operate via dry contact (ie closed contact) or you need to supply a voltage Assuming shorting the contact does open the gate, you can measure the voltage on both ends of the gate strike contact. When the relay is not activated there should be a voltage across them. Be careful there as it may be 230V! When the relay is activated during the 1.5 seconds of the pulse the voltage should drop to 0 If it does not then there may be a wiring problem from the gate strike back to the RLY01 or a problem with the outputs A systematic check like this should quickly narrow down where the problem lies - brianza - 05-04-2009 Hi, thanks for the fast response. As far as I know the strike needs a 12v pulse for about 1 second. I am not sure whether the RLY01 is simply switching or whether it is supplying this 12v from the comfort\'s 12v rgs Brian - admin - 05-04-2009 The RLY contacts do not supply 12V, they just provide a closed contact to the strike, which is termed a \"dry\" contact If you want to supply 12V DC (and you should check if that is true) you need to connect 12V to one of the contacts of the RLY01 and connect the other contact to ONE of the terminals of the strike. Check the documentation for the door strike to see exactly what it needs - brianza - 05-04-2009 hi can I obtain the required 12v from the comfort motherboard? rgs Brian - admin - 05-05-2009 That depends on what current is taken by the door strike. Comfort supplies a maximum of 1 A for alll devices which is connected to its 12V. Slaves with their own transformer also supply 1 A Door strikes may require a lot of current, which you can find out from checking its specs. In that case you should get it from another power supply - brianza - 06-09-2009 Dear All, In order to have a complete post. I had eventually solved this one. The door strike needed a 12v 2A power supply. I used an external one and all worked just fine. For the beginners amongst you please note that the 12v input on the RLY01 board does not supply 12V to the relay output but is used to trigger the relay into closing. You may be familiar with how a contactor in an AC scenario works. rgs Brian |
