- schford - 11-29-2010 Just ordering my external cable to run to the gates the garage and the boat house. I am probably going to get - SWA CAT5E EXTERNAL GRADE SWA Outdoor grade Cat5e with steel wire armour https://www.datalinkcabling.co.uk/detail.aspx?id=582&page= As everything will be run under the ground - now its not shielded per say but would I be right in assuming that the steel wire armour will act in the same way as the normal metal wrap on shielded cabling so in effect it will be shielded and ok for the Door Station at the bottom of the drive on the gates? Cheers Stuart - ident - 11-30-2010 I doubt it is totally shielded compared to properly shielded cable but I suspect it may be good enough. No actual experience with these though - schford - 11-30-2010 I\'ll give it a go then! Cheers Stuart |
