Hi. Suddenly started getting communication failure 49 as of this morning... anyone tell me what this points to? - everything appears to be working apart from this reported failure, and the only thing to have happenned recently is that I removed the cover from one of my PIR\'s thus causing a tamper alarm....
Also, for no obvious reason, my doorstation has started announcing again, - something which I\'d turned off *years* ago (Wife doesn\'t like it).. why should that have started again?
Any ideas?

Communications Failure 49 means Door Station 1 has lost communications
Check the wiring continuity, and the ID shunts on the DP in case it has fallen off

Thanks, just after I posted the question I worked out that it was referring to the door station... - I think it has been playing up for a little while - for the last week or two, I\'ve had several occasions where the doorbell response has fired for no reason - there\'s been no-one at the door, yet Comfort is ringing the internal phones, sounding the doorbell on the internal siren etc...
It seems unlikely that anything would have fallen off - neither the unit or its wiring has been disturbed in the slightest since it was fitted several years ago... I\'d be inclined to suspect an actual hardware/component failure may have ocurred - but I\'ll double check all the connections anyway..
On a related point, last night I disabled the door station (by setting the number of doorphones to zero in Comfigurator, & uploading that config) - this had the desired effect of clearing the communications failure warning, but it also seems to have made an unwanted side-effect... - this morning SWMBO was unable to disarm the system from keypad 1 - it is completely unresponsive to key presses... - It\'s still on, I can see the correct time & status displayed on the LCD etc. I can see zone activations on the LCD... - but it absolutely doesn\'t respond to a sign-in....
I take it this isn\'t expected behaviour? (I didn\'t expect it anyway!) - any reason why \"zeroing\" out the DP has also affected the nearby KP??

Setting number of door stations to 0 should have no effect on the keypad
Check that the number of keypads is still 1 (or more)
I would try to write the program again and reset

Hmmm... some *very* odd things have been hapenning the past few days....
Not only was the first keypad inactive (keys unresponsive), but the words displayed on the LCD were completely wrong as well... - instead of displaying \"Front door open\" it displayed something like \"front open strobe\"... - weird...
Anyway, I\'ve just opened up the doorstation & checked all the wiring... as I expected, all was OK... I did find a single solitary ant inside the casing, and some Ivy had forced its way between the back of the case & the wall - not *inside* the case, so the worst that could have done was to cause a tiny bit of deflection of the case...
I\'ve put it all back together, cleaned everything up around it, and reenabled it in the config file - the only change is I\'ve set number of door stations to 1 in the Modules & settings... Uploaded that & reset.... - as soon as the reset completed, the doorbell response fired, which I cleared by answering an internal phone...
Initial testing (apart from that errant doorbell response), appears better... there is no longer a communications error 49 being logged, the words displayed on keypad 1 are back to what they should be. Also, KP 1 is now responsive to keypresses again as normal... based on that behaviour, I\'ll leave things as they are for a while, & monitor the situation... If the doorstation is on the way out, hopefully it will last long enough for the imminent new range to appear...
On the upside, I did find an active bird\'s next with 5 eggs in it in my front porch...

WOW, is this uncanny or what.... - look at the date of the first post in this thread... - almost exactly a year to the day, - and last night EXACTLY the same thing hapenned again... - I\'d made a slight change to a couple of sunset times to better fit what I\'m seeing out of my windows, did a full upload, followed by system reset, and lo & behold, as soon as it completed the reset, it reported the exact same error: communication failure 49...
Which does fit in with the fact that on a half-dozen or so occasions this last week, I\'ve had phantom doorbell responses (sound familiar?) - and when I left this morning, I could not arm from the keypad - I had to leave the house & arm by phone from outside, - and once again, the doorphone announced the arm event (which I have always had turned off)...
What is it about April that makes these doorphones go mental? If I\'m not mistaken, I did replace the doorphone last year, so I think the one there now is no more than a year old...
I really don\'t want to be replacing this thing every year!

Perhaps some moisture or something else in the door station? I sugest you take out the door station, remove the cover and have a look. Perhaps some insects have made it their home

Maybe replacing it with a DP03X & DM02 setup would be a little more robust... - it\'s a little dearer than just buying another DPO3, - but if I only have to buy it once....

DS01 Aluminium or DS02 (steel) would be better then DP03X, also looks better
