- ident - 08-24-2013 The new UCM/Zwave version 7 firmware to be released will have the following improvements and features Z-Wave Response Wizard The Response Wizard to create commands to send to Zwave will select Zwave Nodes by Description, instead of numeric IDs, as was the case before. Once you select the Zwave device, you select the Zwave command This allows you to select only the valid commands for this Zwave node. For example  the channel selection is seen only if it  a multi-channel device is selected Zwave Status The Status button can be toggled on and off. The Zwave status shown on the status bar has more possibilities including \"Normal/No error\" - UCM/Zwave is in a Zwave Network with no error. \"EEPROM missing/faulty\" - U2 EEPROM missing. \"EEPROM insufficient capacity\" - U2 EEPROM problem. \"EEPROM data invalid\" - Zwave data in the U2 EEPROM is invalid. \"Communication error between UCM baseboard and Z-wave sub-module\" - Problem with the Zwave submodule. \"UCM/Zwave not in any Network\" - UCM/Zwave has not gone through \"Learn\" \"Waiting to receive network data\" - Seen during the Learn Process. \"Receiving network data\" - Seen during the Learn Process. \"Writing EEPROM\" - Seen during the Learn Process. \"Learn process success\" - Learn has been completed. \"Learn process completed with errors\" - Error in Learn. Checking if restoring Z-Wave module data is needed...\" \"Comfort response contains invalid node.\" \"Comfort response contains virtual node.\" \"Comfort response contains non-supported Command Class in node.\" Z-Wave Status in old versions < v7 could only be seen on the LEDS on the UCM/Zwave PCB Intelligent Polling of Z-Wave Nodes Polling is one of the problematic issues with  Z-Wave. The problem is that Zwave nodes do not report their status unless they are polled (using the Get command). However polling is not recommended because it can cause excessive traffic on the network resulting in commands getting lost.  For systems like Comfort which want to report the status of all devices, setting Polling on with a 10 seconds interval would cause problems in a Zwave network larger than say 10 nodes In the new firmware, Polling is handled differently. The polling time should be set to a longer interval  to 6 (60 seconds). When Comfort needs to know the status of Zwave nodes, i.e. during Control Menu, or when needed by Wizcomfort or the Android, iPhone, or iPad app then the UCM/Zwave starts to poll the modes. When the system is idle, ie exit from control menu or not required by the app or external software, then the UCM/Zwave goes into background polling where the nodes are polled less frequently Upgrading from older UCM/Zwave3 If upgrading from an older UCM/Zwave3 to 7.028, do a Learn from the primary controller.
