Hi,
How do I wire a smoke alarm to the comfort panel? is it a standard zone or does it need to goto a specific input?
Also does the panel have a detector reset output or do I set the unit to auto reset?
options for cabling are:
0v or (-Ve) for this type of detector reset
+12v or ((+Ve) for this type of detector reset
fire zone
fire zone
If you could let me know how each of these 4 connections map to the comfort II.

The smoke detector can be connected to any zone. The zone should be programmed as a Fire Normally Closed zone type (which is immediate in al security modes, ie a 24 hour alarm)
The 12V of the smoke can be connected to S12V on Comfort and 0V to COM on Comfort (the next terminal from S12V)
S12 can be programmed to switch on and off in Response Wizard, Output > Switch Aux Supply On or off
This can be switched off and on by Comfort to reset it in the Security Off Response
If you have a few smoke detectors you may not want to reset it at disarm, because you may not be able to identify which detector was triggered

OK there is far more to it than this
Is your smoke head latching or non-latching - this will determine how it is (or can be ) set up within comfort.
(I think i have this the correct way around) The lathing heads hold onto the NC contact until the power to them is broken. If you use a non-latching head then you do not need to reset S12V as the head will re-trigger (not latch) after a short time. If there is still smoke present it simply stays active if the smoke has gone it \'resets and thus negates the need to reset the head from comfort - comfort of course will stlil need a sign in to clear the smoke signal.
ALSO you may need to add the EOL resistors to allow reporting of different states.
Now you have asked the question I will take another look and provide a full explanation in the smoke section ( over the next few days as i will need to bench test again as i always forget !)
The there is another scenario with multiple heads in series etc

I believe that the units that I have can be set to Latching reset or Auto reset. (The model is a Cooper M12). I haven\'t decided which setting to go with yet as I have no experience of either. However, I have set the unit to Auto-reset for the time being.
I understand the concept of connecting them all in series, but I think that in that configuration, I would have no way of knowing which unit got triggered. Hence my questioning the validity of dedicating a separate Zone to each detector.
Look forward to any further explanations that you provide.

It is always much better to connect each to its own zone
Latching allows you to phyisically see which one has caused the alarm as there should be a visible LED. It also allows you to connect in series since the led allows you to identify it before it is reset, but individual zones is better

Hi, I\'m about to install a similar Smoke & Heat detector (Texecom Exodus 4W) which has a manual or auto reset option. In addition to the power and N.C. zone connection there is a \'latch\' pin that it says can be momentarily taken LOW to reset the detector. Can I connect this direct to a Comfort Output, ensure the output is always \"ON\" and then when I need to reset the latch I set it to \"OFF\" briefly?

You dont have to use uop an output
There is a S12V output (Switched 12V output) which is meant for this
see the default responses to contol S12V
S12V output is normally switched on
Switch off S12V and use timer tyo switch it on again after a few seconds
This can be triggered by Alarm Type Security Off Response or System Armed Alarm Response
