Zone Trouble at 4:00am! - Sota - 12-15-2025

Hi, my alarm went off at 4:00am last Thursday and woke me out of a deep sleep. In my rush to turn it off I managed to stub my toe on the edge of a door, leading to much swearing  Angry. Anyway, the keypad was showing trouble on Zone 16 - an outside gate sensor. I bypassed the zone and disabled the alarm.

Over the weekend I investigated the problem. I disconnected the zone connector and checked the loop resistance which was 2.2k with the gate closed and 6.9k with it open and I confirmed that the EOL jumper was in the correct position. Cycling the power for the alarm didn't fix it, so I tried a full write from PC -> Comfort and then COMFORT -> UCM EEPROM. This cleared the Zone Trouble alarm but I'm concerned that it may happen again.

Any thoughts on what might have caused it?

The resistance values you measured are correct. But check that the resistance d=is constant and does not vary over time as this can cause zone trouble
The EOL shunt may also be having poor contact due to corrosion.  make sure it is making god contact

Do you have a spare zone that you can move  zone 16 to? or swap the zone with another that may not be an alarm zone

sorry to hear about your toe

Thanks, I have moved it to a spare zone and I'll keep an eye on it. I pulled the shunt and the zone connector off and on a few times in case there is any corrosion.

The toes are now turning purple!
