Register Monitor
The new Register Monitor feature is very useful when you want to monitor a range of Comfort registers; Zones/Inputs, Outputs, Counters, Flags, and Sensors. Before this, you had to go to Zones to monitor zones, Outputs to monitor outputs, Counters to monitor counters, etc. This new feature allows all required registers to be monitored in a single window.

Due to the cessation of landline telephone service in the UK, we have been asked to check if a device like Grandstream HT802 which is a 2 phone analog adaptor (ATA) for VOIP can be used for Comfort dialing out and dialing in.

This is the Grandtream HT802 web page https://www.grandstream.com/products/gateways-and-atas/analog-telephone-adaptors/product/ht802

This video is supposed to set up in 30 seconds but it only gves the connections
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IGLeSqCWe64

The HT802 does not work by itself. You need a VOIP server in the premises or you need a SIP Server on the internet to take your connections and calls. Not all SIP servers can do voice calls, most are for connecting between VOIP systems. I tried https://voip.ms/ whuc is a voip provider with SIP servers in several countries. They have good guides to how to set up with Grandstream HT802, see https://wiki.voip.ms/article/Getting_Started and
https://wiki.voip.ms/article/Grandstream...02_-_HT802 but nevertheless there are a lot of settings to enter
You need to register for a user id with one of their sip servers. After registering you have to enter the user is and SIP server address on the ATA FXS port configuration. You have to top up your account with minimum US$15.

In voip.ms after registering you need to get a \"DID\" number in your country which acts as a caller id for calling out to the dialled phone, as well as a number to dial in to the phone. You can Order a DID from one of the supported countries, This costs some amount of money either monthly or pay as you go per minute.

After all this was approved an the DID number was applied, I managed to make a call from my phone to the ATA phone connected to the HT802 ie the incoming call works. However outgoing calls from the attached phone to a Singapore number did not work. Calling to an Australian numbwr did not work, Calling to a US or Canadian number does work.
after checkung the voip.ms website again the warning was found:\"International Routing: You can choose also the Value or Premium route. Both routes are reliable, however you\'re going to find better quality if you\'re using the Premium route. The CallerID Number is not guaranteed to work for international calls even if you use the Premium route. \" Thus voip.ms is not suitable for the purpose
If you use a SIP/VOIP service in your own country this should work, but there will likely be a substantial monthly cost. Anyone who wants to conyinue testing will ave to eplore the options available

In conclusion:
After spending a few weeks on the setupThe setup for grandstream HT802 is not simple
You must find A VOIP service that can work with the Grandstream device in your country. This will incur likely a monthly payment. voip.ms does not work with International outgoing calls (where international refers to outside USA and Canada). Anyone who does this lease get support from the provider.

My recommendation
Use the UCM/GSM Module which can call out and accept incoming voice calls as well as send and receive SMS which is fully supported by Cytech. Most of our customers have gone by this route
I have a comofort panel which must be about 18 years old now and still going strong. I presume its a comfort 1, not sure.
Any how\'s I wish to add a remote to arm / disarm the unit and if I recall correctly when I installed it there was an option to add a key switch arm/disarm.
I\'m presuming I could link it this but is there any info anywhere about adding the key switch and do I need to go into the programming of he unit?
Thanks for your help

This is a list of common problems which may be encountered by newcomers when programming and testing Comfort

Tamper Alarm

When you turn on power on a new Comfort with a keypad connected, the Tamper alarm will be heard. This is due to the Tamper Input on the top edge of the Comfort Controller PCB left open. This is supposed to be connected to the contacts of a tamper switch to prevent unauthorised opening of the enclosure. To temporarily disable this alarm, short it with a wire

Phone Trouble

After the system has been turned on for a minute, a Phone Trouble alarm will be heard. The keypad will beep for 10 seconds and the LCD will show \"Phone Trouble\"This is because the telephone line has not been connected to the TEL IN terminal block on the top edge of the board. The Telephone Line alarm occurs when the telephone line is disconnected or cut. Putting a short across the TEL IN terminal will NOT disable the alarm. To temporarily disable the alarm (or permanently disable if a telephone line is not available), go to Alarms > Configuration Flags > Disable Line Cut

Acknowledge the alarm by entering the user code and # key on the Keypad. The Trouble alarm display will not be cleared if the alarm is not acknowledged
This also stops the siren sounds (if still sounding).

Zone Trouble
The Zone Trouble Alarm causes the keypad to beep for 10 seconds and the LCD to display \"Zone Trouble\". This is due to the wrong End of Line Resistor settings, or an external voltage on the ZoneCM9000 has End of Line Shunts for each of the 8 zones JZ1 to JZ8.

Acknowledge the alarm by entering the user code and # key on the Keypad. The Trouble alarm display will not be cleared if the alarm is not acknowledged
This also stops the siren sounds (if still sounding).

See this topic for information on End of Line Resistors
http://www.comfortforums.com/forum127/4935.html

Communications Failure Trouble Alarm

The Communications failure alarm causes the keypad to beep for 10 seconds and the Keypad to display \"Communications Failure\" (module name). This is caused by a module (keypad, UCM, IRIO etc which is supposed to be in the system not replying to polls from Comfort due to the wrong ID or disconnected See http://www.comfortforums.com/forum16/69.html

Acknowledge the alarm by entering the user code and # key on the Keypad. The Trouble alarm display will not be cleared if the alarm is not acknowledged
This also stops the siren sounds (if still sounding).

Power Failure Trouble Alarm

The Power Failure alarm causes the keypad to beep for 10 seconds and the Keypad to display \"Power Fail\". This is caused by the loss of AC Power on the power point supplying Comfort. The Battery backup is providing backup power to Comfort. When the backup battery voltage is low, a Low Battery Alarm Will occur.
Acknowledge the alarm by entering the user code and # key on the Keypad. The Trouble alarm display will not be cleared if the alarm is not acknowledged
This also stops the siren sounds (if still sounding).

Low Battery Trouble Alarm
The Low Battery Trouble alarm causes the keypad to beep for 10 seconds and the Keypad to display \"Battery Warning\".
This is caused by a low battery voltage on the Battery backup to Comfort.

Acknowledge the alarm by entering the user code and # key on the Keypad. The Trouble alarm display will not be cleared if the alarm is not acknowledged
This also stops the siren sounds (if still sounding).

A daily Low battery Test is done every 24 hours. Comfort switches off the AC Mains power for 2 miinutes - if the Battery voltage drops to 11.5 Volts then the Low battery alarm is activated. The AC power is restored if this happens. When the user code is entered on the keypad, the LCD shows \"Battery Warning Restore\"
A manual Low battery check can be done anytime by pressing F,3,1 on the Keypad. This starts the 24 hours timer for the automatic daily battery check so that the next battery test will occur after 24 hours.

If the battery is very weak and cannot be charged , a Low Battery alarm can occur even if the AC power is on.

Arming Problems - Arm Failure

For arming to Away Mode, the occupants are required to leave the premises. That means that the Entry door (if closed) must be opened and closed within the Exit Time (30 seconds default). If the entry door is already open then it must be closed. After the door is closed, the system will arm to Away Mode and announce \"Away Mode\" on the keypad. If the Entry door is just left closed when arming to away then an Arm Failure alarm will occur. To clear it, disarm by entering the code (eg 12234#) on the keypad, and then arm againWhen arming to Night or Day mode, exit is not required.
