Finally looked at getting my Lutron setup integrated earlier in the week and found a few things were not as expected so wanted to share.

My Setup:

Lutron Energi Savr for LightingLutron

Sivoia Blinds

CI-NWK-E

If using a Universal UCM it seems none of the inbuild Lutron command worked so it seems easier to leave the UCM Command Type option at none.

The NWK-E device requires a login if using Ethernet/Telnet which was awkward so it was easier to connect the RS232 to a Moxa RS232 to Ethernet adapter which removes the login requirement.

Test your command using telnet to the Moxa drive and when you know they work just convert to hex, add \"0D\" to the end and paste them into the Comfigurator.

Have a couple of question that maybe someone can help with:

What is the difference between using the Alarm to Device tab in the Universal UCM Vs Responses?

How can I set a response to a string received on the Universal UCM?

Hi,
I am looking at using a system to control my outside lights and would like some advice on doing so.
I have the following requirements and would like some suggestions on what would be the best systems to use.

The PIR\'s are  connected to the inputs of comfort

240v mains output

Be able to specify  how long each light stays on and if it continues to detect movement  to stay on

Comfort to SMS my  mobile if 2 or 3 of the PIR\'s detect movement during certain time of  the day

Be able to  override lighting (via comfort client maybe)

If possible, send  a signal to my PC which controls my CCTV if a PIR detects movement  so my PTZ camera knows where to look

I think the TWS02 should be able to control the lights but I will need at least 8 different areas of lighting to be controlled and think this might be an expensive option would CBUS controller or a GJD system be better and still be able to meet the above requirements?

Thanks in Advance, Chris.

I\'m a currently programming comfort for my home, part of which is integrating it with a RAKO lighting system. The current firmware does not provide support for two-way communication with RAKO (you can\'t trigger comfort responses from RAKO keypads).

Anyone know if/when such functionality might be added to comfort. Is there any means of developing custom firmware? I\'m a software engineer by trade and currently developing my own RAKO control software... so I might fancy a challenge

Hi

I have a ultra 2 panel with a UCM 485 controlling Dynalite. Whenever I am testing the interface is fine but once i have left something is happening which stops it from working. The only way to get Comfort controlling dynalite again is to Download the Config File.

Most of the responses are linked to a LSM and this is what i have been using to test (by winding the pot to full). The main function is triggering the outside lights from the outdoor PIR\'s.

We have another job with the exact same setup and there are No issues their.

Any suggestions?

Rako Lighting interface issues.

Has anyone interfaced Comfort to the rako blind control units.?

The Rako blind control units work perfectly from there own RF control , or from the rako one way 9600 baud interface when I send the commands via hyperterminal.

These are excellent units. Because of the feature of the channel 0 and room 0 feature off there protocol all the blinds all go up and down together in perfect syncronisation, there is no delay caused by the sequential issuing of commands.

Anyway this is not the problem. When I use a Comfort UCM to control the blinds, that control is not consistent, somes the blinds go in different directions and some times together. The same commands get different behavours.

What I suspect is one of two things, and I am hopeing someone has walked down this road before to save ne having to test see which is correct, or find both are wrong.

Suspected cause 1.

=============

The Rako interface response to a comfort command, is not a legal Comfort protocol so the UCM to sends \"N/A\" back to rako. N/A is not a Rako command so it sends \"unknown command\" back to Comfort, and they argue at full speed over this filling up buffers and causing the reall commands to be dropped and corrupted. The fix for this is simple, CUT the receive wire into theComfort Serial interface.

Suspected cause 2

==============

The string of discrete commands in an ALL BLIND down sequence is too much for Comfort or Rako\'s buffers, so data loss occurs, giving the inconsistent results.

FIX. Put delays between serial

Has anyone else tried rako control of lights or blinds. I suspect that this could happen in either case.

Just in case you are thinking the one way Rako is only 1200 baud, the old one was. They have a new verion that can do BOTH 1200 and 9600 software selectable.

Works very well.

Perhaps we need a new category in the forum for interfacing to Rako.

What I suspect is one of two things, and I am hopeing someone has walked down this road before to save ne having to test see which is correct, or find both are wrong.

Suspected cause 1.

=============

==============

My plan:

A PC with Charmed Quark (CQC) to control home automation via PC\'s and touchscreens in the home. Connected to this is a Comfort with UCM, a CQC driver would provide commands to control the Comfort and CQC would also control the lights via a Rako interface.

However, if the Rako interface is connected to the PC not the UCM, would Comfort be able to send responses to the PC (e.g. turn on lights when alarm is activated), which through CQC would relay those to the Rako interface to actually turn on the lights?

Or would the alternative be to connect the Rako interface to the UCM and then have CQC pass commands for the lights via the UCM and relay those to Rako? Does Comfort control allow commands to be sent to the Rako device from a PC?

I would prefer to connect the Rako interface to the PC as CQC already has a driver to control the Rako lights so it may involve less customisation than controlling them via the UCM.

Is this possible?

Thanks
