alarm activation

Over the last few months when the alarm is activated it will ring through to my mobile but there is no voice response.
Before you would have been told where the activation was etc.
Does anyone have the same issue.

Introduction

The UCMA/4G7608 provides a 4G (LTE) cellular network connection to the Cytech Comfort alarm and home automation system. It acts as both a primary or backup communication path for alarm dialout, SMS notifications, and remote access by authorised users.

The UCMA/4G7608 consists of a baseboard with an ARM microcontroller and a pluggable 4G/LTE submodule (A7608). All configuration is done through Comfigurator — no special software or app is required.

Capabilities

Acts as a backup for alarm dialout when the land line is faulty or cut. Can also be used as the primary dialler without a fixed telephone line.
Allows the user to dial in via the GSM number to access Comfort voice menus remotely.
Allows Comfort to report alarms to mobile phones via SMS — messages include time stamp, location identifier, alarm type, and zone or user name.
Allows authorised mobile phones to send SMS commands to control appliances and the security system.
Allows date and time synchronisation from Internet Time servers (SNTP).
Supports Voice over LTE (VoLTE) for voice calls to and from Comfort.

Key Features

Zone and Alarm Names (32 characters each) stored in UCMA/4G7608 EEPROM.
64 Customised messages can be sent by SMS.
Help messages sent by SMS after receiving the "?" command.
Query Security Mode and Control Status by SMS.
Arm/Disarm Security System by SMS — replies with Security Mode status.
Alarm SMS messages include time stamp and User Name for arm/disarm events.
Each phone number has independent permissions for SMS Arm, SMS Disarm, and SMS Control.
GSM Network Strength 0–10 and Signal-to-Noise (SINR) 0–10 displayed in Comfigurator status bar.
Support for non-English character sets using UCS2.

Differences from UCM/4G

The older UCM/4G module (based on SIM7600) does not support Voice over LTE (VoLTE). It uses the 3G voice band for voice calls and will not be able to make voice calls on networks where 3G has been discontinued.

The UCMA/4G7608 supports VoLTE — voice calls are made entirely over the 4G/LTE network. It also uses a new ARM processor baseboard. The A7608 GSM submodule cannot be plugged into the original UCM/4G baseboard PCB.

Dead GSM4(2G) Sub-module

My GSM4 (2G) as stopped sending SMS messages...

The UCM module seems to be OK - it is responding in Comfigurator and I've updated the firmware to the latest OK.

The SIM is OK and we are still getting 2G service in this area.

On the UCM board the Green RDY LED is on, the BUSY1/D2 Red LED is on, and the BUSY2/D3 and ERR/D4 leds are off.

On the GSM4 sub board (with SIM900 module) the D4 red LED is lit, and the D3 green LED blinks every few seconds. However - relatively regularly (don't have to stand there and wait long) the D4 LED goes out for a little while, the D3 green LED blinks about 3 times, the D4 green LED comes back on and it goes back to blinking every few seconds...

Any ideas of the problem? Has the GSM module died?

UCM 4G upgrade due to digital phone line upgrade

Hi,

I've been the very happy user of a comfort system since 2001 - it's been so problem free that I've not had to change/upgrade/add anything to the system since that date.

With the upcoming change in the UK, to no longer support copper, my phone line will be upgrading to digital, so I think now is the time to add a UCM-4G to my comfort system - I believe this will allow me to control comfort - activate/de-activate comfort, have DTMF control over comfort, and be called whenever there is an alarm, over the 4G network.

My question is, will my hardware be compatible, and what firmware needs updating ?

My comfort system is:
8001/E Comfort CPU/8-zone/8-output with "Outside 4.115" printed on the "main chip" on the circuit board
UCM-CWI (with the RS232 cable connected (to a Raspberry Pii)) with "UCM 5.11" printed on the "main chip" on the UCM board

Many many thanks for any help - I've had a bit of a trawl through the forum, but I fear my system may be much older than many.

Text in GSM zone, alarm names limited to 16

Zone names, alarm names and other text should have a maximum of 32 characters, more than Comfort zones and alarm names which are limited to 16. This is provided the ENGLISH property in GSM Properties is set to YES. If the ENGLISH property is NO, then the names is limited to 16 characters because non

Hardware updates required to install GSM4

I am based in the UK and my phone line has been changed to fibre with DECT phones so I have lost the phone connection to my Comfort system. I can see that a GSM4 would allow me to remote disarm my system but my Comfort system is old and I need some help understanding which parts need new hardware or firmware for a GSM4 to work. My system is as follows:

Comfort GSM not answering but SMS is working

I upgraded my system last week and replaced my old GSM(3G) UCM with the new UCM/A7608 which supports 4G and VoLTE. My main reason for doing this was because it was virtually impossible to sign-in remotely on the old 3G module. Advice on the forums was that the new A7608 module decoded DTMF on-board and so performed better...

After initial installation I was able to sign-in on my second attempt - I assumed I fumbled the keys on the first one. However, trying to dial-in this morning I\'ve had five failed attempts. My one-and-only successful sign-in so far must have been a fluke

I saw another forum post that recommended holding each key for 1 second then waiting for 1 second but that didn\'t seem to help (and if I do it that slowly after the first failed attempt Comfort sometimes seems to hang-up and say \"Thankyou Goodbye\" halfway through the second sign-in attempt anyway). I used to use this slow method 10+ years ago when signing in to a Comfort landline and it did matter and make a difference.

I\'m trying to dial-in from a Samsung S23 Ultra mobile. I have a good signal and Comfort has a \"Strong\" signal. I\'m not convinced my SIM is using 4G yet (the A7608 board\'s red LED is only flashing slowly) but my provider claims 3G has already been switched off in my area and assures me that my SIM is 4G compatible and I should be getting a 4G connection. Perhaps I\'m falling back to 2G? Would that matter and make DTMF worse for Comfort?

As you cannot hear the DTMF tones locally on the mobile I\'m not sure if holding the key makes any difference anyway. Actually, I just did a test and dialled a landline and pressed keys on the mobile so that I could hear them on the landline - it seems the mobile-generated DTMF tones are a fixed duration (I\'d estimate ~250ms) so the only thing that can matter is the gap between presses.

Are there any other settings I can try on Comfort to tune things as this is really disappointing that I still cannot sign-in via GSM?

Also, I\'m going to take the SIM out and check VoLTE is enabled etc (as recommended on other forum posts) - do I have to power down Comfort first, or is it safe to remove the SIM?

Upgrading from UCM/GSM4(3G) to new UCM/A7608

I have finally received my new UCM with the A7608 module from Laser so that I can use VoLTE to try and improve my chances of dialing in to Comfort.

I removed my existing UCM/GSM4(3G) entirely (not just the daughterboard) and installed the new UCM with new A7608 module and gave it the same ID number 2 as the old board.

After powering everything up it seems to work at a basic level as I can dial the SIM card and Comfort answers and I can now actually sign-in (well, it worked on second try whereas with the old module I could rarely sign in). I can also do the (?) text and get a sensible reply.

However, all of my custom SMS control config is not yet there â I assume I need to reload it via Comfigurator but I donât want to do it incorrectly and wondered if you can advise?

I opened my existing config and logged in â I noticed Comfigurator now says my signal is âStrongâ, which is good, and I can see all my old config, but can I just do Write to EEPROM, or do I need to make any changes first? Iâm assuming it is using cached information about UCM02 as it says the type is GSM4, version is 7.141 and latest version is 7.240, processor is N.A, and GSM Module type is 5320-3G, which must be the old once - hence why I don\'t just want to risk corrupting things by trying a Write to EEPROM.

Comfigurator seemed to do a scan automatically as it popped up an error box saying the module scan had timed-out. I tried another scan manually and it gave the same error.

Because this is a different type of UCM do I have to delete it and then re-scan to find the new one? If so, will I lose all of my existing config of Customised Messages and Control menus?

On that page it refers to the new UCM as the UCMA/4G7608 â is that the same as the A7608 one Iâve just purchased? That page also mentions needing firmware 7.245 â is that the UCM firmware? I assume with it being new it will have compatible firmware already?

Anyway, if you can advise on the best steps for what I should do now the replacement hardware is installed that would be great. My main Comfort controller firmware is 7.175 (if that matters).

UCM/4G 4G and 3G networks

The UCM/4G works on 4G (or LTE) networks. It is not able to work in 5G -only networks, but 5G SIM cards can normally work on 4G Phones. However, UCM/4G makes use of 3G for Voice calls - it does not support VoLTE (Voice Over LTE). Check the mobile settings on the phone to ensure that LTE or 4G is selected, NOT 5G. for example for Samsung phones, go to Settings > Mobile Networks > Network Mode. select LTE/3G/2G (autoconnect) or 4G/3G/2G, as LTE is the same as 4G. Do NOT select 5G (ignore the Data Roaming button, it does not affect the network setting) If the SIM card uses VoLTE for voice calls then Voice calls will NOT work on UCM/4G. To fix this, disable VoLTE on the SIM Card. On a Samsung Phone, go to Settings > Mobile Networks > VoLTE Calls, and Unselect this feature. Note that some phones do not show this setting. [color=\"#ff0000\"]Note that the new UCM/GSMA7608 module supports VoLTE[/color] Also if the SIM Card is 5G, Disable \"Use 5G Standalone Networks\", and select Network Mode = LTE/3G/2G (auto connect). Remove the SIM Card from the phone and insert into the UCM/4G. The UCM/4G should now be able to dial out by voice calls

UCM/GSM4 not connecting

I recently upgraded all my comfort firmware so it would be ready for the recent instructionson connection to home assist.I used the \'check for firmware updates\' options and all worked successfully but now my GSM4 module will not send messages. It either sits at \'connecting to GSM network\' or \'Signal strength 0\'. Before the upgrade it sat around 2 or 3.
The GSM module type is \'900-2G\'. Its currently got firmware version 7.240.
Any ideas?

we created the response in event and configured in Group Control the Code generated when sending the code it not delivered, we checked the response script it working but from gsm Message nat working

I have a system with a UCM/GSM4 which is a 3G module. I have read recent news stories (such as this one in the UK) which talk about operators soon turning off 3G support.

Am I correct in assuming that when my SIM provider removes 2G and 3G then I will need to buy a new UCG/4G module and there is no way to upgrade my GSM4 and make it work with 4G/5G services (even if I have a 4G/5G SIM card)?

Synchronise Comfort Time with Internet Time

The UCM/4G GSM Module is able to synchronise the Comfort Time with an Internet Time Server
.

Go to the Modules Tab.
select the UCM/ GSM Module on the left pane. On the right pane see UCM/GSM Properties. Set \"Time Update from GSM\" value =1.
For Time Zone, enter the hours offset from GMT, eg 0 for UK, +8 for singapore.
WRITE to EEPROM on the top menu of the GSM Menu
Note that the UCM/ETH03 has a similar feature. If you also have a UCM/ETH03, use only 1 of the time sync features on 1 of the modules to prevent unneccessary time updates from the NTP server
This feature is not present in the UCM/GSM 3G module
