Whilst I issued a smaller maintenance release back in January,  I\'ve really been working on version 5 since August last year and it\'s been a mammoth task to build this architecture (in my spare time...what spare time!) to get to this point; where did that 9 months go with this baby!.

I\'m pleased to announce the release of version 5 (5.1.1.30) of ComfortClient.  Download links are on the forum (http://www.comfortforums.com/forum65/1948.html) or my website (https://www.futurehomesoftware.com/) or you should get alerts when you are in the current version.

The headline act for this release (though there are many fixes and other feature changes)  is the \"ShapeFactory\".  Before this release if you wanted to build a floor plan you had to do it in an external tool such as MS Visio and then save sections of that to image files that could then be inserted into a ComfortClient floor plan and linked to Comfort or plugin events;  well no more as everything is now built in for you to create a floor plan from a blank canvass.  What\'s more, the ShapeFactory is extensible and you can choose to install updates automatically when you open Floorplan Editor and they will download from my secure website.  A blog on this can be found at https://www.futurehomesoftware.com/ShapeFactory.html and I will update it as I release new Shapes to the library. I will probably do one shortly so users can get a feel for how it works and I still have more ideas for Shapes.

Also in this release is \"ShapeMe\";  a built in helpdesk (when you are online in ComfortClient)  that will allow you to request new shapes, enhancement requests or issues discovered (bugs) or of course just to compliment me on how wonderful it all is!  Big Grin.

Other features like Print support now means you can even use ComfortClient as a floor plan drafting too and print out the results to paper.  and lots more besides!

One important aspect to note is that I\'m also releasing updates to plugins (connectors aren\'t affected) as I have extended the plugin API with more event hooks now at the behest of Ingo who needs in some of the plugin projects he is building.

Currently I am learning Comfort Client, I find it is a very user-friendly software. For a beginner, it does not take a long time to be familiar with everything.

But I have 2 doubts, firstly, when I select \"Click Response\" of object, in \"Click Response Type\",I select \"Comfort\" and in \"Comfort Response\" , I select the response I want to execute. Furthermore, for \"Click Response Set\" , the setting is \"Set(Off), Enabled(True)\".
It seems that when I click the icon, the corresponding response will be executed.
But only when I select the response of Control Menu in \"Comfort Response\", the response will be executed, if I select other response in \"Comfort Response\", I click the icon, the response will NOT be executed. This is a BUG or somewhere I did wrongly.

Secondly, same in \"Click Response\" section, I can see there is a \"Click Response Set\". For the \"Set\" setting, when the setting is ON, you can click the icon to execute the response as many times as you like. But when the setting is OFF, it allows you to click the icon 1 time only. e.g. My response is to toggle the light. when the setting is ON, I can click as many times as I like, the response works fine. But when the setting is OFF, I can click the icon 1 time only to turn on the light. If I click more, it has no response. What is purpose of this?

I am using the Comfort Client 4.1.7.5 now.

I\'m busy developing version 5 of ComfortClient at the moment which includes great new features worthy of it\'s designation as a major release.  I\'m a couple of months yet away from releasing this yet so in the meantime Ingo suggested that maybe I release a few of those fixes in a maintenance release, so here you go!

I while a go I asked Cytech if they could do anything to speed up initialisation of Counters and Sensors as requesting serially on the bus (one at a time) was slow IMHO.  They obliged with the sequential query (r?) command in ULT 7.063 firmware which I\'ve now added support for too, along with the 16 bit counters support also implied by this command.

The result is that refreshes (when logging in) are a magnitude times faster (I think mine has gone down from 20 to 4 secs) and the Object Matrix opens up immediately fully initialised.  

Of course if you haven\'t benefited from upgrading to that ULT firmware yet then ComfortClient will still continue to initialise the counters and sensors it needs using the current \"Smart Refresh\" logic so nothing is lost.

I\'m busy developing version 5 of ComfortClient at the moment which includes great new features worthy of it\'s designation as a major release.  I\'m a couple of months yet away from releasing this yet so in the meantime Ingo suggested that maybe I release a few of those fixes in a maintenance release, so here you go!

I while a go I asked Cytech if they could do anything to speed up initialisation of Counters and Sensors as requesting serially on the bus (one at a time) was slow IMHO.  They obliged with the sequential query (r?) command in ULT 7.063 firmware which I\'ve now added support for too, along with the 16 bit counters support also implied by this command.

The result is that refreshes (when logging in) are a magnitude times faster (I think mine has gone down from 20 to 4 secs) and the Object Matrix opens up immediately fully initialised.  

Of course if you haven\'t benefited from upgrading to that ULT firmware yet then ComfortClient will still continue to initialise the counters and sensors it needs using the current \"Smart Refresh\" logic so nothing is lost.

Not usual for me to post another maintenance release so soon after the last (a couple of days ago) but Chiu was testing ComfortClient and made a comment about how tricky it could be to select objects on the floorplan sometimes and that got me thinking.  Can\'t have the \"Big-Man\" unhappy I thought! Smile

So spent the last couple of days improving the object selection technology in Floorplan Editor and I\'ve even impressed myself with how it has turned out so thought I\'d share the update sooner rather than later.  I also added a bonus \"Deselect All\" menu action as well just for good measure.

  • The authenticated Windows user (domainuser) is now written to ComfortClient and Floorplan Editor splashscreen, monitor window and log file. Splashscreen message box now has scroll.
  • New version 4.5.4.8 of the RTF-to-HTML conversion component.
  • Additional checks against “rogue” plugins sending invalid data to ComfortClient.
  • Setting the inner or outer radius to zero on a Circular Gauge Range Set would cause an exception in Floorplan Editor Object Properties.
  • Linear gauges did not correctly reset the ScaleFace Colour 2 property when “Fixed” scale type was selected in Floorplan Editor Object Properties. It should be the same as ScaleFace Colour 1.
  • Selecting objects in FloorplanEditor has changed;  hold down the SHIFT or CTRL key to select multiple objects, otherwise the new shape will be selected and the previous deselected.
  • Improved selection of objects that are nested inside other objects on the floorplan.
New Features
  • A new “Deselect All” (objects) action is added to the main menu, toolbar and right-click context menus.

Known Errors 
  • Send-to-back & bring-to-front doesn't work on Linear Gauge objects.  Instead until next release as a workaround use on surrounding object types to get the desired effect. This is a long-standing bug going back to the time this object type was introduced.

I\'ve written a small plugin for ComfortClient that gives you access to System Date/Time functions. There is also a Custom Date/Time option to specify any time format value you desire.

I coded this to create myself a new \'Homepage\' with the current Date and Time showing. If there is no activity on ComfortClient then it is set to display my new Homepage and I can see the Date/Time in one quick glance. Julian has created a small sample clock attached.

The plugin only works on ComfortClient 4.1.6.1 or above and on Windows 7/8 and can be downloaded from Julians website at:

Just a side note: ComfortClient 4.1.6.x is still in Beta but I am sure Julian will release a maintenance update soon.
