Comfigurator 3.7.x will have the following changes. The new version will make it easier to use Comfigurator to program Comfort. This is a BETA version andis still being tested

Bugs Fixed (from 3.6.8)
If a KP04 with old firmware < 1.010 is in the system, a Module scan  caused a new KP04 to appear. Saving the file and opening again and scanning will cause another phantom KP04 to appear.

New Features
The new features described here require Comfort and UCM firmware version 7.  Please upgrade to the latest firmware as described in http://www.comfortforums.com/forum92/3400.html

UCM Connection Settings simplified further
"Override Saved Connections" removed

Network (Local) and Network (Remote) settings are automatically saved in the cclx file. USB and RS232 settings are not saved. "Override Saved Settings" checkbox has been removed as it is no longer needed. The reasoning for this change is that only the Ethernet connection settings "belong" to the Comfort system while the USB and RS232 settings depend on the computer which connects to the UCM.

UCM Connection Error
If the connection to UCM fails with message “No Response from UCM”, an additional message  “Please check the UCM Connection Settings” will be shown.

In older versions, the login box popped up but this is not correct as another login will not work

Convert/Select Comfort model based on scan
After a module scan, the Comfort model in the cclx file is compared to the scanned Comfort model eg Ultra, Optimum etc. If the model in the file does not correspond to the detected Comfort model then a popup box should say
“Controller  Comfort Model XXX is not compatible with the selected File system YY in the cclx file. Convert to the correct file system YY?”
If yes is selected the  file is converted to the correct file system to match the scanned
Comfort model

Convert File System
File > Convert file system has a  dropdown list of models to convert to. Convert file system is used when a file has been written for a Comfort system but needs to be changed to another eg Comfort 1 Pro to Comfort II Ultra or Ultra to Optimum

Detect ID Collision or ID lost Comms
Comfort 7.006 and UCM 7.006 and above is able to report a message when a duplicate ID or missing ID is detected.
Comfigurator will report a warning message
“Possible Communications Lost or Duplicate ID for(module ID#) "
e.g.
KP06 ID#2, UCM/GSM ID#3

When the module communications is restored, Comfigurator will report
"(Module ID) Communications Restored"

Write User Codes
When writing to Comfort two boxes "Set Comfort Date and Time" and "Write User Codes" will be seen

"Write User Codes" box when checked will determine if tthe user codes in Comfigurator are writtent to Comfort. An installler programming a customers system may not want to Weite User Codes to Comfort because the customer may have changed the user codes via keypad, so writing user codes would overwrite the changed user codes
This replaces the  “Write User Codes” box in Configuration > Modules and settings  which may not be noticed easily

Comfort Time/ Write Date and Time - Local Time Zone
Comfort’s Time is displayed in the status bar after login.

Comfort saves the local time zone in the cclx file when the file is created
When writing to Comfort, a checkbox "Write Date and Time" is seen.
Comfigurator compares the timezone on the PC with Date and Time in the cclx file (in case the connection is made from another time zone) and makes the appropriate adjustment when writing date and time to Comfort

Write to EEPROM in Modules
A common problem is that when modules like UCM/KNX, KT03, UCM/Zwave, UCM/Velbus, UCM/Universal, UCM/eHomeGreen  and others which have their own configuration in EEPROM, people forget that they need to write to EEPROM as well as writing to Comfort. In the new software when you exit from the file without writing to EEPROM, Comfigurator will check if any changes in the module needs to be written to EEPROM and will prompt you if you would like to write to EEPROM

"Yes" means that Comfigurator will write to the modules EEPROM
"No" means that Comfigurator will not write to the modules EEPROM but the changes will be saved so that write to EEPROM can be done later
"Cancel" means that Comfigurator will stop checking for changes in other modules as well. This is normally the case when making changes for the purpose of testing and which are not to be saved

Improved  Scanning for Modules
Scanning for modules can now determine if a module is Not Found or Not Polled
"Not Polled" means the module is detected  on the bus not it is not polled by Comfort because the Number of Not Polled modules are in BLUE

"Not Found"
means the module is not detected on the Comfort Bus. The colour code of Not Found modules are in RED.

Serial Numbers
In future Comfort, UCMs and other modules will be shipped with unique serial numbers (which are currently printed on the bar code labels). The serial numbers will appear on each modules properties along with type and Firmware Version and will also be saved in the cclx file thus helping to trace the product better.

"Not Available with this firmware" means that the Comfort or module firmware does not support the feature. Please upgrade to the latest firmware as shown in http://www.comfortforums.com/forum92/3400.html

Security Types > Non detector alarms
The Name of the Non detector alarm is fixed (not editable)
General help text in this screen added as follows;
“Non-detector Alarms are alarm conditions that are not caused by Zones. These trigger the assigned Zone Types assigned to each one. The assigned Alarm Types should not normally be changed, with the exception of Phone Trouble, which can be assigned to Null alarm if  the phone line is not connected to Comfort”

Security Types > Alarm Types
The Alarm Types that are referenced ie in Blue should have the Names fixed ie not editable. This is because the name reflects the alarm which should not be changed. Unreferenced alarm types (shown in black) can still have their names changed

Keypad Voice Volume
In Voice settings, " Keypad Voice Level" has been renamed  to "Keypad Announcement Level"

Entry Alert Disable Confirmed Alarm checkbox
New setting in Configuration > Modules & Settings  called “Entry Alert disable confirmed alarm (BS8243). This is for compliance to BS8243 (for UK only)

"Entry dial Delay",  "Entry Delay No CMS"  Removed
In Modules and settings removed “Entry dial delay“ and "EntryDelay No CMS" as these are not used

New Action Codes
Actions 121, 153, 154, 155 are supported.

Action 121
Load Sensor # with last Action Value

Action 153
Load 2 byte Value
eg 153, 00, 02 - Load 2 byte  value 512 into action value

Action 154
Virtual Input On/Off
eg 154, 10, 00 - force virtual Input 16 Off
Applies when zone is a virtual input

Action 155
Send SMS to Phone
eg 155, 07, 02 - Send to Phone 7 Message #2
Applies to UCM/GSM4 only

Please download Action Codes Reference from http://www.cytech.biz/action_codes_reference.html?category_id=106

Security > Status Renamed Security > Outputs
Security > Status should be renamed to Outputs as it is more appropriate

Changes in KT03 Configuration

KT03 Duplicate  pages
In KT03  pages, right click should have Duplicate Page to  duplicate the page and buttons to a new page. This was not possible before.

KT03 Connection Settings
Connecting by KT03 has been simplified. Please read this carefully as the changes are significant
The connection by KT03's USB port is in Options > Settings, select USB and "Via KT03" checkbox. "Via KT03" is seen only if there is at least 1 KT03 in the system.

In the screenshot above, USB is selected. There are 2 KT03s in the system so you can select which KT03 to connect to. Then select the USB serial number from the dropdown list

You can also connect to KT03 via the UCM instead of direct to the KT03 USB Port. Connecting via UCM (and the Comfort Bus) is much slower than connecting by KT03 USB but it is more convenient especially if you are connecting remotely using UCM/ETH02 (in which case it is the only possibility)

Hence if the connection is via one KT03 in the system, the other KT03 is automatically connected via UCM (ie the other KT03 as UCM). Remember that a KT03 also acts as a UCM ie you can program Comfort through the KT03s USB port

In KT03 Properties, the Connection Type is read only depending on the UCM Connection- you no longer select the KT03 USB serial number here.

If the UCM Connection setting is via KT03 USB, then in that KT03's Properties, the Connection Type is shown as USB.

If there are more than 1 KT03, only the KT03 that is used as the USB connection will have connection type as USB - Other KT03s connection type are shown as UCM, as the other KT03s will be connected via the 1st KT03s USB.

KT03 Default Template
New in Options > KT03 Default Template

This default KT03 template with extension .kt3x is the KT03 template that is used when a new KT03 is added manually or by scanning. Previously a blank KT03 template was loaded

Comfigurator 3.7.2 (Beta) can be downloaded from http://www.cytech.biz/comfigurator.html?category_id=98 for testing purposes
Please note the following known bugs in this software

Bugs in Comfigurator 3.7.2
  1. When exit from a configuration or loading new file, message "Configuration for module UCM has changed or the number of Responses referenced by the module have changed" may appear even though there is no such change or the module has no eeprom
  2. If a module firmware is too old so that it does not report its firmware during a module Scan, the previous modules firmware is reported instead
  3. When scanning is being done and a Communications Failure occurs during the scan, Comfigurator may report that a module does not support scanning, due to a long delay in replying due to the Comms failure report
  4. If Comfigurator is opened with a diferent file system to the Comfort which is connected, Conversion of file system to the correct one after a scan may cause an exception
  5. If last connection was by KT03 USB, and a new file is started without KT03 in the configuration, the connection is still by KT03 USB but the box "Via KT03" is not visible and so cannot be disabled. The workaround is to add a KT03 to make  "Via KT03" visible, then uncheck the box

Regarding point (2) on your known bugs list; can you expand on this as this sounds like the functionality I need. If I say scan my ucm smarttfit I want it to keep the value stored manually in the cclx file. So this doesn't feel like a bug to me.

This problem is when a module is removed and replaced by an old module but the scan retains the firmware version of the old module
see below

We note your request that the module Type that was manually added should not be replaced when a scan returns 00000

One thing I've noticed, if you set show status checkbox on say FLAGS or OUTPUTS, you can highlight a row and then press down arrow key to move focus to the next rows. I.e. when it refreshes the status it refreshes and jumps back to the remembered/current row.

If you try the same on COUNTERS and SENSOR RESPONSES then the result is not the same as the fields are refreshed and you jump to the start of the list again. Could these act like the FLAGS list does such that it remembers position in the list?

I dont see this at all
When you check show status on flags the highlight disappears and all flags are status are updated almost immediately
The same with outputs
I cannot get it to remember where it was before

Flags and output status are updated by a single command while counters and sensors need individual commands to get status which may account for any diference that you see

But I dont see any advantage to your preferred behaviour

Comfigurator 3.7.3 Beta can be downloaded for testing

The changes from 3.7.2 are

Bugs Fixed
  1. When exit from a configuration or loading new file, message "Configuration for module UCM has changed or the number of Responses referenced by the module have changed" may appear even though there is no such change or the module has no eeprom
  2. If a module firmware is too old so that it does not report its firmware during a module Scan, the previous modules firmware was reported instead
New Features
  1. If a module is "Not Found" after a scan ie listed in RED, and the configuration is written to Comfort, this will not cause  a Communications Failure. This is because modules that are not found by Scannning will not add to the module count.
  2. " File Creation Time" in Configuration > System Information has been renamed "Last Saved". This is a more accurate description as it shows the time that the  cclx file was last saved.
Known Bugs
  1. Local Timezone in the default templates is set to London/Dublin/Edinburgh. Users in other countries using Windows 7 may have their Comfort sets to the wrong time zone. Windows XP does not have this problem
  2. USB via KT03 may be set in Options > Settings when KT03 has been removed. You have to add bak KT03 in order to uncheck the Via KT03 box

Comfigurator Beta 3.7.4 can be downloaded for testing
Please UNINSTALL 3.7.3 or previous versions of 3.7 before installaing this version due to a problem with instaling the default templates

The changes are

Bugs Fixed

  1. Local Timezone in the default templates was set to London/Dublin/Edinburgh and users in other countries using Windows 7 may have their Comfort sets to the wrong time zone.
Improvements
  1. The colour of Not Polled Modules after scanning has been changed from Blue to Purple so as not to confuse with referenced modules and responses which are in blue
  2. Improvements in GSM4 and Zwave modules which require new UCMs yet to be released
Known Bugs
  1. Some PCs may have UCM connection if USB wrongly set to Via KT03 even though KT03 is not present and the Voa KT03 box is not seen. The workaround to remove this is to add a KT03 in Modules, go back to Options > Settings and uncheck the Via KT03 box
  2. For KT03, write to KT03 by direct USB connection fails with error popup "Failed to Connect to KT03". However upgrading firmware and using KT03 USB as a UCM is not affected. Write to KT03 by Bus can also work.
  3. Some of the updated default templates are not updated by this software version. Please uninstall the previous 3.7.x version before installing this version
  4. If KT03 configuration is erased (eg due to incomplete write) Reading from KT03 will cause an Exception
  5. If a Zone Type which has no Normal Alarm Type (eg Zone Type 30 Digital NO) is assigned to an alarm type, then it causes all zones to be assigned to the changed zone Type
  6. If there are 2  UCMs connected to Comfort which have  correct ID but Comfort is configured for 1 UCMs, and the cclx template has default 1 UCM, Scanning for All modules will show the 2nd UCN as "Not Polled" which is correct. However scanning for All Modules will not work - no scan is done. However scanning for UCMs only in this case works.

Comfigurator 3.7.5 (still Beta) is available for download. Please read the Known Bugs list. The first item is very important - please write to Comfort before reading from Comfort so as to avoid an exception
Customers are encouraged to upgrade to 3.7.5 even though it is beta, provided that they take note of the Known Bugs listed below

Known Bugs
  1. Reading from Comfort will cause an exception if a write to Comfort has not been done. Workaround is to Write to Comfort first for each system.
  2. Blinds function is not correct
  3. Thermostat function selective write does not write the parameters and does not write the correct parameters to locations
  4. The new action "If Last Security Mode" has only "Security Off"and cannot select other security modes in the condition
  5. GSM4 - Get status interrupts  Firmware Upgrade for GSM4 and causes it to fail repeatedly. The workaround is to log out and do the upgrade before logging in so Set Status is not on during the upgrade
  6. Links to manuals are not complete
  7. Selective Write does not select Control Menu when Responses change which are assigned to the Control Menu. To workaround, please use Full WRITE. This may be a bug from older versions

The changes are
  1. Help link to Comfort Forums
  2. Help test for Security > Status Outputs is improved
  3. Supports new UCM/GSM4
  4. Supports UCM/Zwave3
  5. Link to Manuals for each  products

New Actions
  1. Action 42 - Keypad button causes Family Care Alarm Dialout
  2. Action 43 - Clear Event Log
  3. Action 184 - Branch if = 2 byte signed constant
  4. Action 185 - Banch if <> 2 byte signed constant
  5. Action 186 - Branch if >= 2 byte signed constant
  6. Action 187 - Branch if < 2 byte signed constant
  7. Action 188,0 - Exit if = 2 byte signed constant
  8. Action 188,1 - Exit if <> 2 byte signed constant
  9. Action 188,2 - Exit if >= 2 byte signed constant
  10. Action 188,3 - Exit if < 2 byte signed constant
  11. Action 73, 30 - Get Last Security Mode before disarmed
  12. Action 73,31 - Get GSM Network Strength
  13. Action 155 - Send SMS Custom Message (GSM4)
Control Menu Alternate Text
In Control Menu, Alternate Phrase can be entered. This can be used for the iPhone/Android/ iPad apps in future
Phone Permissions (GSM)
Phone permissions added for each Phone in Security > Phone Numbers. "Allow SMS Arm", "Allow SMS Disarm", Allow SMS Control". This determines if each phone is allowed to do the selected action by SMS

Functions

New Functions category in Comfigurator left Pane.  Functions implemented are Blinds and Thermostats (for testing only)

Bugs Fixed
  1. Some PCs had UCM connection if USB wrongly set to Via KT03 even though KT03 is not present and the Voa KT03 box is not seen.
  2. For KT03, write to KT03 by direct USB connection fails with error popup "Failed to Connect to KT03".
  3. If KT03 configuration is erased (eg due to incomplete write) Reading from KT03 will cause an Exception
  4. If a Zone Type which has no Normal Alarm Type (eg Zone Type 30 Digital NO) is assigned to an alarm type, then it causes all zones to be assigned to the changed zone Type
  5. If there are 2  UCMs connected to Comfort which have  correct ID but Comfort is configured for 1 UCMs, and the cclx template has default 1 UCM, Scanning for All modules will show the 2nd UCM as "Not Polled" which is correct. However scanning for All Modules will not work - no scan is done. However scanning for UCMs only in this case works.
  6. KT03 schedules - If Days of the week are checked the file saved and reopened, the days of week become unchecked. This is a problem with older versions as well

I notice there's a new "Display Manual" hyperlink too against the UCM's which is helpful.
I presume the Known Bugs (1) is a one off you just need to do after upgrade to 3.7.5?

In Known bugs you say

4.If Last Security Mode has only "security off"

Presume this sentence is incomplete?

Yes you need to write to comfort the first time only for each system that you have

Thanks for spotting the Manuals Link

we forgot to mention that!

Hi

Just been playing with "Action 43: Clear Event Log"; it works exactly as expected.

Question is though should this not be a privileged action as now it seems anyone could potentially use to cover their tracks? I would have thought a checkbox on the Sign-In Codes page for "Reset Event Log" or something?

Also are these new actions going to be available via the Comfort Protocol as well?

Julian

It doesn't seem to do the display manuals for all the modules yet in my systems for sure at the moment:

Controller: Yes
UCM/Eth: No
UCM/GSM: No
UCM/ZWave: Yes
UCM/Smartfit: No --> But wouldn't presume it too either!

What determines whether the link is available or not?

UCM/GSM manual link should be seen, there is even a screenshot in the post introducing 3.7.5
UCM manuals should be seen but is missing in the version (still beta)

I dont think there  need not be any privileged restriction to action 43 to clear event log. These are programmed by the installer or the user and not accessed during operation.  Putting a checkbox on sign in codes and unchecking it is the same as not using the action in the first place. You can always check the user number in the response

Disarming the system is also possible by Response and this is a much higher security risk than clearing the event log. It is up to the one doing the programming to access the security risks for the end user.

There is no need for  additional commands in the protocol. You can always use the Do Action DA command to do any action eg DA2B

I'm guessing it only does with the UCM/GSM4 at the moment then.
