2 keypads installed.

When an external telephone answer message is left only one of the keypads has the message light flash!

You can leave an internal message the LED on both keypads flashes?

Any suggestions?

I have just had a further e-mail from the customer

"Hi  - I tried to test the system yesterday by phoning the house (when I was inside ) and I left a ‘test’ message. Neither keypad showed that a msg had been left .. and nothing was showing 2-3 hours later. I then entered the code and the system told me I had a msg (even though the msg light was not on either keypad)

I have just done as you have asked and the light has come on .. so led is OK " - (this refers to leaving a message from a keypad)
Hope that tis helps!

Can you tell me the Comfort firmware version?

Perhaps get the customer to register on the forum so he can post direct?

V5.05 is not a valid firmware version, it may  be 5.05x there is another digit missing from the version
You said that of 2 keypads, 1 does show the new message and the other does not. That indicates that Comfort sent the new message command to both keypads but 1 did not receive
Are these KP03 or KP04 or one each?

I have verified the problem on site - by changing the keypads the same thing happens.

Leave a message from menu 2  -4 messages and the message light lights

Leave a message from an external telephone and NO message light appears! but when you sign in nthe message is read out.

Can some one please look into this problem

Thanks

So are you able to replicate the problem?  Any sign of a fix!

No, we find that all recorded messages ALWAYS  turn on the message light.
Is there anything else you can tell us, eg
are the messages very short?  or very long?
is there anything special about the telephone line etc?
Does this always happen, or has it started only recently?

I've had this problem for quite a while. Dont know we have messages until we next sign in.

And sometimes it says "Day 8 pm" after listening and deleting the last message.

Its frustrating not to be able to see the same problems as faced by users. Once we can duplicate, it will be a simple matter to correct.

BTW You do not have to sign in to know if you have messages. You can just press the # key by itself. Comfort will announce "new message for .." or "No Message"

Perhaps we have been looking at the wrong angle.
Have you verified that when you remotely record a message, that the new message led does not flash at all? Perhaps it does flash initially but it is turned off at a later time, so that when the user comes home, it is off. Can someone watch the message led by recording a message by calling from a mobile phone?
Can someone else who has Firmware 5.072 or 5.075 confirm if they also have this problem?

I phoned in on the mobile while on site a couple of times so i can confirm that the LED does NOt light up when phoning in remotely - as i said the LED did work when you left a message from the keypad.

I did not try phoning in with the security system armed!

Hi there,

I'm having a problem with the KP04 keypad on an Ultra 2 comfort. When external messages are left, the Msg LED does not show. Pressing "#" says "No messages". When I leave a memo via the keypad, the LED is lit and pressing "#" tells me who has messages. When signing in, I hear both answering machine and memo messages which have been left. I've tested leaving an answering machine message from a mobile, and the keypad definitely never shows any sign of a message being left.

We have 2 users set up - however I've tested this with only 1 un-named user and it still doesn't work.

System control number (from Engineer 7,4,3): week 5 75 26 2

Any idea if this can be fixed at my end or will it require a firmware upgrade?

Best regards,
Chris

We only recently identified the cause of this problem. It only occurs in the UK (on some telephone lines?) due to BT giving a Dial Tone when the caller hangs up after leaving a message. In other countries, a BUSY tone is heard by the called party, ie the Comfort answering machine. The unexpected dial tone caused Comfort to end the recording without the proper termination, hence the MSG led was not turned on even though the message was recorded.
This was difficult to identify as we could not reproduce the problem in our own testing, and we had to make a trip to the UK to an actual customer site to see this happening and thus figure out what was causing the problem.
We have fixed this in firmware and it has tested on site (thanks to palmlodge)

We are making this new firmware available to all those who have this problem.
Please email us at upgrade@cytech.biz with the following details

Name
Address
Telephone
Firmware version - see label on Comfort U1 IC
Which company you bought your Comfort from
