Comfort and Visonic

After a recent browse in my local alarm toyshop, I purchased all the
necessary bits (I think)to add the Visonic Wirefree to my Comfort 1
system and control the garage and alarm.

Knowing there are a few on here with similar setup, I am hoping
someone can advise the best way of wiring it up. This is being
carefully SWMBO monitored to see if I wasted more money on
toys....therefore I must get it right first time or get a verbal
whipping on another unfinished idea.

Purchased MCR 308 and RL8, keyfobs and a couple of door contacts.

1. Is it better to wire without using relays (less current) and can I
incorporate DOEL.
2. I have limited zones left on comfort and intend wiring tamp, inact
and jam together, any thoughts welcome
3. Is it recommended to power from Comfort or independantly.
4. I intend to use toggle or if then gode for garage door/alarm set
etc. Can anyone advise.

For Question 1, you dont need relays as the MCR308 (RF receiver?)should provide dry contacts  which can be connected direct to Comfort, which can be programmed as the same zone type as the wired sensor
You would not need DEOL resistors, no point as the MCR308 Receiver would be mounted in the Comfort enclosure

Question3; You can power from Comfort but you will need to know how much current the MCR308 takes and how much current (max 1A) Comfort has to spare. Remember Slaves can also supply their own current to external devices

I am intending mounting the MCR 308 approx 2 metres vertically up from the Comfort panel.

Am I right in thinking the Comfort is a common negative panel and thereby the MCR -ve contact can be tied into comfort 12v -ve or com.

MCR has only single contacts for zones, tamp, low bat jam and inactivity, and 12v +ve and -ve power supply.


I\'m well under 1A so no problems there :-)

Yes MCR -ve can be tied to Comfort COM
Test that it does work because it seems like it may not be giving a dry contact, but an open collector output. Comfort also should work with open collector outputs

You can use DEOL resistors if the MCR is mounted outside comfort

I believe both are SEOL...

Can you advise how to wire in DEOL  for either NO or NC that Comfort will work with.

The instructions state that MCR308 has open-collector outputs. This means that they can be connected direct to Comfort Zone Inputs. You do not need the relay interface module they mention
Treat the MC308 outputs as regular contacts. You can connect the DEOL resistors ie 2K7 in series and 4K7 in parallel to the outputs and set Comfort zone shunts to DEOL, or set NO EOL resistors on the Comfort zone shunt and do not connect any EOL resistors.
The MCR308 shows EOL resistors, but does not require these EOL resistors, that depends on the Alarm control panel only

Many thanks, I understand the in series resistor, but confess ignorance in how  and where to connect the parallel 4k7 resistor. 

After this I \'ll try not to ask any more questions for while..

I see your problem, their diagram shows one output only
The 4K7 should be between the MCR308 output and ground which can be the COM on Comforts zone pins
