ComfortClient
#21
Apologies everyone,  I just noticed that this zip file had a 1.21.1.84 of the ComfortClient.exe in it.

This has now been corrected but if you downloaded within the first hour of the original posting then can you may have incorrectly picked up the \"84\" build .

In that case, sorry, can you re-download the replacement zip file or just down the EXE and replace the \"84\" version.

Regards

Julian

p.s I\'m now working on an installer

Hi everyone,

Prompted by Chiu I\'ve created an installer today for the ComfortClient; usable for both for new installs and upgrades.

You can find this installer (MSI in zip file) at:

*** Link Removed,  see download link at http://www.comfortforums.com/forum65/1948.html instead***

In addition to installing the application, it also places an entry in Windows Programs and Features (Add/Remove Programs) and also a ComfortClient folder in the Start Menu Folder.

I\'ll enhance it further over subsequent releases.  Now just to do the Modbus one!  Then one for GaugePacks.....it never ends! Tongue

Hi Julian,
The new version looks good and the installer is an improvement
The biggest problem I have is with the Window Manager and Floorplan editor and figuring what is needed to get a display there

Perhaps you can put a sample \"floorplan\" so people can use it to get started.
In CWM we have a default display of 8 zones status which should also be useful in Comfort Client instead of the blank window.

Hi

Thanks for the feedback.

There are samples included in the installation but up to now I\'ve not included the accompanying config file (that links everything together.  I\'m working on an updated installer that has checkboxes for options; one of these is \"Install Sample\".

Also in the Next release I\'m going to support multiple cofiguration files so you\'ll be able to start using  \"ComfortClient.exe /c=myconfig.xml\"  type syntax.  You can then create shortcuts in your start menu or desktop to invoke these.

WindowManager is very simple I thought,  you just insert a new one,  decide whether it\'s a floorplan or a browser window (Tab).  if its a floorplan you pick a floorplan from the dropdown list, if it\'s a browser you enter the url.

FloorplanEditor is more complicated (feature rich rather than difficult) as you say.  The first rule of FloorplanEditor though is that it is not an image drawing tool;  build these in the editor of your choice and save as JPG,BMP etc (anywhere you want).  I am not trying to create another Visio haere as otherwise all of my development time would go in tweaking this instead of the main ComfortClient code. To put them on the floorplan either use Insert Image or drag them onto the editor window (supports multiple drag & drop).  Once they are on the window then the is used to position and re-scale them as necessary.  They double click each to setup how you want them to interact with Comfort and other plugins.

You can create floorplans in Top or Side elevation,  depending on your personal preferences.

You can create some amazing floorplans (that put my examples to shame).  Ingo\'s blows my mind and whenever I need a big complex floorplan design to test against,  h\'s the man!

Julian

Hey Julian,

Your client is looking great! Well done! I\'ve only played with it a little, but I\'m going to give it a full bash at my new holiday house.

Thanks for all the hard work.

Cheers,
Clinton.

All

I\'ve updated the samples that can be optionally installed as part of the ComfortClient installer.  See below.
