cat5e FTP or stp

I am in the process of cabling my house but i am unsure which cable you reccomend for shielded cat5. The wiring schematic has got cat5e FTP, but in other areas it reccomends cat5e stp. The stp seems very expensive to. Can you tell me which is best please.

Assumption is that this question is related to Comfort and not generic...

The keypads require STP connections but you can get away with non-shielded when connecting to say UCM/ETH2

For data runs round your house then standard Cat5e is good enough - rule of thumb is to try and keep clear of any mains cabling.

Sorry yes it was with regards to the comfort panels. I am upgrading the existing system after some major faults and we have had a new extesoon built so now is a good time to change. Would FTP cable be ok for keypads ect & just use utp for networking also part of the existing alarm cable is six core would I need to change these. One other thing is external pir\'s I presume should be home run individually back to node zero. Thanks for your help

No, 6 or 8 alarm core is preferable to CAT5 for alarm cables. They are multistranded so dont tend to break so easily and they dont need the properties of CAT5

One other thing is external pir\'s I presume should be home run individually back to node zero.

You will find that a reel of screened 6 core alarm cable is far more cost effective - you will probably be able to purchase 50m.
