Connecting ADSL to BT Master Socket

This is the recommended connection method by Home (experienced Comfort Installer)

It is best to use the master socket that plugs into the front of the BT master socket face plate. NTE5 its called

IN this way there is ONLY one ADSL filter.
Out of the BACK of the filter take a tel line into Comfort 2(blue) 5(w+blue)
Out of Comfort take the  2(blue) 5(w+blue) to ANOTHER master socket (just an ordinary master it can sit next to the main BT one - label it Comfort master.
From the Comfort master take all of the house extensions  2(blue) 5(w+blue) 3 (orange)
The orange is the ringer....
In this way IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH YOUR BROADBAND then ITS NOT Comfort - and when you ring the tech help centre tel and broadband are separate entities.
ALSO if the tel line goes down its easy to establish if its on your side or BT side - i.e if there is no tel dial tone at the BT master socket IT IS CATEGORICALLY BT\'s problem. If there is a dial tone at BT master it is your problem.

I don\'t think you should be recommending adding two master sockets to a BT line, it will probably effect broadband, and also automated line tests if there are two master sockets.
There should only be one master socket on a BT line.
What i have done is used a faceplate filter from the back of that used 2 (Blue) and 5 (Blue/W) to comfort from comfort 2 (Blue) and 5 (Blue/W) to a secondary socket. I dont use the ringer cable (3 Orange) as most modern phones don\'t require it.
However if you do need the ringer it must come from the master socket to the secondary socket.
So you would have cable going from master in to comfort and out again to secondary socket. Inside the comfort cut blue & blue/w and connect to in and out, and the orange remains uncut inside the comfort and carries on to the secondary

One is a BT master the other a simple \'master\' capacitive device that adds the ringer to the phone line. The BT master has the ability to have the NE5 added as part of the installation BT now fit them as standard. There is then no need to ANY other filtering.
The whole point is that the second master is in effect a Comfort master all secondary telephone lines connected to this point can pick up the * comfort menu.
ALSO in the event of a telephone fault it is 100% clear that the BT master does NOT have a dial tone - and thus the fault HAS to be with BT.
ALSO the ADSL / tel is clearly separated AT source
