Need Help
#1
Hello,

This morning upon leaving my house, I notice that the keypads did not have any display present and  none of the PIRs flashed as I moved across them.

A check of the main panel show that the back up 7ah lead acid battery had failed (no warning from Comfort). It appear to be dragging down the boards power supply. When I disconnected the battery, the output from the traffo to the board was restored to 14v approx. But I still had no 12v supply to the zones or the keypads. I reset the board and the leds do their sequence until the green flashes on/off slowly. None of the power components and heat sinks are hot.

When I used the local phone, Comfort tells that \'Communications Failure 66, and then goes on to list the main menu.

Do I need to replace my backup battery before the system will output the 12v to power the keypads and zones.

Do I have a short on one of the 12v outputs to the PIRS??

Any other things I can check..I really need to get this system back and running.

System Details

Installed and commisioned early 2006.

Comfort version 1 (4.222)

1x LEM

2 KP04

1X DP02

There may have been a short on the 12V supply from one of the external devices like PIRs or wiring.
Disconnect the terminal block from the 12V connectors and leave for 10 minutes
The 12V supply is protected by a resettable fuse  which activates when there is excessive current. When the load is removed, the fuse recovers.
If the 12V is restored, then look for shorts on the 12V wires

Thanks for the reply, suspected as much. Disconnect each of the keypads and door station in turn. Again had suspicions on doorstation as it is outside the house and we had a bitterly cold few days. Once the doorstation was disconnected, the 12v supply was restored. Like the resettable fuses, they are a good idea.

Do ye have any irish agents for Comfort??? Need to replace the door station asap.

Yes, ID Electronic Solutions is in Ireland, their contact details can be found at
https://www.cytech.biz/cytcms/dealers.php#IE

There will be a new version of the Door Station DP03X which works with the DM02 inside the house so that only the speaker and microphone circuits are in the Door station outside the house. This reduces the exposure of the Door station to the environment and may prevent such a situation
