Connect the UCM/USB to a USB port on the computer

A message \"Found New Hardware\" will pop up on the Windows status bar

For Windows 7, the installation should procees automatically, and the message \"Hardware is Ready for Use\" will appear when the USB driver has been installed

For Windows XP, a window will pop up as shown below



Select \"Continue Anyway\"
The window below should appear



Press OK and browse to the folder Program FilesCytechComfigurator3USB Driver folder
Select the file shown. You may have to select one of the subfolders i386 or amd depending on your system

Press OK and continue
This should install  the driver

The older version of UCM/USB is shown below. The difference is the new version has DIP switches ABCD instead of Shunts for SW7 Primary RS485 ID


Connect the UCM to Comfort using the 4 way RS485 cable below


DO NOT CONNECT the UCM Firmware programming cable shown below! This is only used for upgrading firmware

UCM Firmware programming cable. DO NOT CONNECT

The RS485 ID(SW7) determines the ID of the UCM. By default, the UCM ID is set to 1 ie ABCD are  all ON. Leave this at default ID


The UCM/USB is supported by Comfigurator 3.x.
Switch on Comfort with the UCM/USB and connect the USB cable to the computer.

When the UCM/USB is connected, a message \"New Hardware Found\" should appear, and the USB driver should be installed automatically.

If the appropriate driver cannot be found then a dialog to install the driver appears
Select \"Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)\" and then click \"Next\".
Select \"Search for the best driver in these locations\" and browse to  (\"C:/Program Files(x86)/Cytech/Comfigurator3/USB Drivers\") . Once the file path has been entered  in the box, click next to proceed. The driver should be installed and \"Hardware Ready for use\" is seen.

If the driver fails to install correctly, this may be due to an old version of the driver already in the PC.

Once the driver is installed,  go to Options > Settings >  UCM Interface. Select USB from the dropdown list




Click on the blue link \"Scan for USB Devices \" as shown above
Then click on the dropdown list to the right of Serial Number. You should be able to see a serial number in the dropdown list. If the dropdown list is blank,  unplug and reconnect the USB cable and repeat clicking on \"Scan for USB Devices\"
Do not check \"Via KT03\" unless the USB interface connected to KT03

If the serial number can be seen, press OK.

You are ready to connect to Comfort as explained below

I fitted my UCM/USB board last night, and when I connected up to my laptop (running Windows 2000 Professional, SP4), I was prompted to install drivers for the USB UART device ?

There don\'t appear to be any suitable drivers with my Windows install - so can you tell me where to download suitable drivers from ?

The new Comfigurator 3 has supports the USB  Interface. The options for interface in Comfigurator now include Serial RS232, Ethernet (UCM/Ethernet) and USB (UCM/USB). When USB is selected, Comfigurator will look for the serial number of the USB and offer it in a drop down list.
The UCM/USB includes an IR Learner which can learn the Infrared signals of most infrared Remote controls


For those who already have a UCM06, the USB01 Plug in board is also available. It plugs on top of a UCM06 to provide a USB interface
