This with a USB and VGA output would be a killer device - connecting a touchscreen means you have an all in one front end for Comfort.

If the CWM02 is exposed to the internet so that you can access your system from home, how hardened is the product from internet attacks and hacking?

CWM02 uses SSL encryption.
By default it uses a self-signed certificate but you can buy a signed certificate from a certificate authority like Verisign or Thawte. However this should not be necvessary as you would be accessing your own CWM and you know the identity of the server site

I was thinking more along the lines of what OS the web interface uses. SSL as a tunnelling protocol if fine, but if the OS used (I assume some form of Linux?) isnt patched properly or the web server used (Apache?) isn\'t hardened or if ports are left open then the web interface would be open to attack and if someone cracked that they could take over your house.

We advise in the manual to close all ports except the one used for SSL, but as long as your system is on the internet, there is always a chance that it can be hacked no matter what precautions you take , especially by a professional thief who deliberately targets you knowing that you have something really valuable to make it worthwhile.
It is also up to you what you allow to control via the webserver. You do not have to allow arming and disarming, etc.

I agree. I think keeping the system local and if internet access is required then using a VPN into home before accessing the system is the best solution.
Given the dangers I think this addition is still worth having.
