Since I purchased a new UCM05 and moved my Eth/01 onto this my old UCM is \"daughterless\"; the daughterboards have fledged and left home
This UCM is UCM05 based too and I\'ve already flashed it to the latest firmware.
Question is will I be able to plug a UCM audio daughterboard into it? Am I right in thinking it connects via the 10 pin socket?
Asking because I\'m wondering if the RS485/RS232 jumper has any effect here as I dont have one on the board so assume it\'s locked to RS485 for it\'s old ethernet based focus.
Yes, you can plug the Audio module onto the 10-pin socket.
You will need to use back the serial port to send commands to this UCM05 so that the Audio will work.
If your soldering tool comes in handy, you can unlock the selection from RS485 to RS232 by removing the resistor on R51 and solder it onto R57. These two resistors are located just beside the RS232/485 jumper.
So I guess you need the RS232 because your connection from PC has to be to the serial port on the SAME UCM as where UCM/Audio daughtercard installed.
I was trying to communicate PC-Comfort via my UCM05/Ethernet but then somehow get audio back to the PC. I was hoping I could send Actions on the UCM/Ethernet card and get speaker output back from UCM/Audio card (run Cat5E cable from output of this card to line-in on PC). So Audio card output controlled via EThernet is mutually exclusive?
Alternatively I hoped SM command listed the id of the message being announced (and I could provide notification locally by translating to pop-up message etc) by as per thread response yesterday the id on SM command is not for the message as stated but for the UCM card.
Must be some way of being able to do KD commands from PC and display/hear/translate the comfort announced replies.
If you want audio from the UCM/Ethernet, the ETH01 modules that we produce nowadays has a connector to piggyback the ASUI01 module on TOP of it. Its like a daugtherboard on a daughterboard or a \"Grandaughterboard\", see the attached picture. i dont know which version of the ETH01 you have, I suspect it may be an old one. If this is something you need, we can arrange a swap of the ETH module
With this arrangement, you can connect the PC to the UCM/Ethernet with audio and run the audio back to the PC using a separate cable (or perhaps using unused wires in the CAT5?)
Then the keypad commands can have the full effect with audio. You dont really need to use the serial RS232 interface for audio. The UCM firmware is not aware if the physical interface is Serial, Ethernet or USB

Have you got a picture of the Eth module without the Audio on it as this would give me a better idea of what connector I\'m looking for on my board. You never know mine might have the connector and then I\'d just need the audio daugthercard (if only life was that simple!!)

See a picture of the back of the arrangement. You should be able to make out the black 10 way connector on the ETH01 which the AUD sits on (immediately to the right of the orange Tibbo module) The 10 way connector has pins which plug on to the UCM 10 way socket underneath but on top it has a 10 way socket for the AUD01 to plug itself in
I just checked and yes I have the old version without the connector.
Can I swap the card and buy the Aud from you at the same time as would be simpler to do in one transaction.
Also could you email me swap process arrangements. Can I buy and you send me first and then I send old one back (ie you trust me) or do you need return first; i want to minimise downtime of comfigurator/wizcomfort/my webapp etc.
