Generation One - Replacement Transformer

I have a PSU02/230/3 expansion box which powers my cameras.  The transformer has died (the primary has gone open circuit).  So far as I can see from the documentation, the replacement transformer should have a secondary of 16 Volts at 5 Amps.

I have ordered a 15VACTX spare transformer from my supplier.  The transformer I have received is rated 18 Volts at 20VA.  My calculations suggest that this has only around a fifth of the power that I should have.

The supplied device is actually a CPC Transformer with the two 10VA secondary windings connected in parallel.

Am I missing something?

The part number mentioned PSU02/230 is not a Cytech product. It was probably from a previous distributor.

The CPC transformer that you have ordered is far short of the original rating of 5A, and the voltage is 18V which is higer

Whether the new transformer can be used for the PSU is not something that we can comment on given that we do not know what is in the PSU02

However I expect thyat a replacement transformer should be alomost the same as the original one. You should take this up with the supplier

Thanks Chiu.  The expansion product I have mentioned is here.   The circuit board within it is exactly the same as the power supply boards in all of the other Comfort boxes that I have.

The web site literature states that it is a 3 amp supply, so I am unclear how it could work with a 1.1 Amp transformer.  As you suggest, I have taken this up with the supplier (the same supplier for the replacement transformer as for the original expansion box).

That website is from Comfort Home Controls, which is not related to Cytech is any way
Definately a 1 Amp transformer is unable to provide 3 Amps to your load, unless the backup battery contributes current. Even then it can supply that current only for a short time before the battery is discharged

Thanks again Chiu. I was under the impression that Comfort Home Controls was one of the (in fact the first) UK resellers for Comfort.

Has that changed?
