Has my Comfort died

Hi,
I hope you can help troubleshoot my Comfort system, that I installed in 2001 - and so far has been totally troublefree.

Problems started about 6 months ago, with a \'Doorstation 1 comms failure\'.

Sometime later (perhaps after a powercut?) the comms failure \'went away\'.

About a week ago, I started to get intermittent beeping from all keypads.
I can now no longer log in via the RS232 UCM using CSxpress - I get a comms error.
I can no longer signin on any keypad - sometimes after typing in the code, I get a single long beep, and sometimes nothing.

If comfort calls my phone, I can sign in and go through the menus ok, I can also dial in, and sign in ok.

Listening to the event log from last night, there was constant comms failure/restore for all 3 keypads and 2 doorstations from 2:14am to 7:00 - there must have been 100\'s of comm failure / comm restore events logged.

Comfort is a 8001/E with \'Outside 4.115\' - if that helps.

Thanks for any help on troubleshooting this.

It appears there may be an intermittent comunications failure on the Comfort RS485 bus. This may be caused by a bad bus connection on KA/KB, perhaps one one the KA or KB wires are not connected or one of them is shorted. Check the Rs485 KA and KB wiring to all the modules

If there is no wiring problem detected, I would then disconnect the modules, eg Door station, Slaves, Keypads one by one until you manage to sign in on the keypad, and the intermittent problem goes away.

It also could be the Comfort system which is causing the problem.

What are all the modules on your system?

Thanks for the quick reply.

I have 3 keypads, 2 door stations, and 1 UCM - web interface.

With all keypads and door stations disconnected, I can login using the PC over the UCM.
Reconnecting No1 keypad, and I can login with the keypad and via UCM.

This is sounding like a wiring problem - little mice ?? Or perhaps a fault with one of the doorstations/keypads ?

Is there anything else I can try (apart from connecting up the keypads one by to try to determine the source of the spurious issue?)

I\'ll keep the system connected with the single keypad and UCM for a few days, and see how things go.

It may be a wiring problem or one of the modules is faulty and corrupting the data. Check the wiring, then reconnect the modules one by one and see if the problem recurs. You may even find that it may work perfectly after reconnection if it was a connection problem which was resolved by disconnecting and reconection
