Wiring Query
#1
Hi All,

Probably the first of many questions!  I am just about to undertake a fairly large Comfort and RAKO installation at home as I have some time on my hands.  I have removed the old alarm system and am waiting for my bundle of goodies to arrive but need to order some other bits and bobs so wanted some advice.

1 - The old keypad near the front door was connected back to the old alarm station by 2 runs of 8 core alarm cable - its still in excellent condition and would make life so much easier if I was able to use this rather than run new cables!  Anyone have a view if this is likely to work - I know that shielded cabling is reccomended but am I hoping for too much in thinking it might work as is :-)

It depends on how far the keypad is from the panel. If it is a short distance and if the cables do not run near any power cables then then your chances are better.

I suggest that you try the cables as they are and re-run if  there is noise.

By the way, two way control with Rako  is being developed, ie you can control Comfort from Rako wireless switches compared to one way control from Comfort to Rako using a normal UCM

Thanks for the reply no harm in giving it a go! :-)

For RAKO integration I purchased the COMFORT to RAKO board from BS Group so COMFORT will know which lights are on. Will the new UCM RAKO have additional functionality?  I suppose its something I could always add in the future along with the KP06.

Warm Regards

The \"Universal\" UCM that we are working on will allow many 3rd party equipment to talk to Comfort, not only Rako.
For Rako alone, the B&S module should be sufficient
